Am I the only one who thinks some bosses from the Galaxy games should have become playable in the last Mario games? Come on, Kamella and Major Burrows could have had perfectly become the new Petey Piranha and King Boo! They could have appeared in Mario Super Sluggers at least!
To a degree. If those bosses only had one appearance in Galaxy (maybe more in Galaxy 3, though it's not what we want), they could be too random. I can come up with some other major bosses like KingK. Rool, Fawful or Syrup.

Well, they had two appearances (Galaxy 1 and Galaxy 2) unlike Petey who, at the time he became playable for the first time, had had only one appearance (Sunshine). I also think it's good for all enemies to have a boss representing them. Petey Piranha represents Piranha Plants, King Boo represents Boos, Kamella would represent Magikoopas and Major Burrows would represent Undergrunts (and Monty Moles if you will). Also, why not King Bob-Omb representing Bob-Ombs? I'm not meaning this only for Mario Kart games, but for other games as well. It's about time that Galaxy gets representation like Sunshine had.

I think that's a pretty neat idea (To have bosses represent a species).

Re: Mario Kart Wii U

Yeah I rather prefer bosses than random generic enemies

But on subject of generic characters, why not add the good notable generic characters as well? Such as, I dunno, a significant Pianta, Coach Penguin, or something else?

In a broad sense, Toadette is based on generic toads and Daisy is a counterpart of Peach.

Species representives isn't a new idea heard from me. The only thing is not all representives have to be a tribal chief, but need to be distinctive and have major appearances like RPG partners. The other probelm is most bosses might be in the heavy class.

I mentioned bosses from other games is because they're more notable as regulars, while Galaxy already gave Rosalina and more regulars would be giving favors. I can only agree some distinctive bosses like Honey Queen deserve an exclusive one-time spinoff appearance.

Still, Toadette and Baby Daisy has enough significant differences for them to have a new model over their original counterparts

Well they added Honey Queen that represented the Bee species and everybody was pissed off. If they never decided to represent a species with a significant figure (of the species) I wouldn't blame them.

Re: Mario Kart Wii U

I don't get where all the hate for Honey Queen came from. Yea, she seemingly replaced Waluigi in that game and looked rather ridiculous, but overall I don't think she was as bad of a new driver as many make her out to be.

I don't think people were pissed off about Honey Queen's inclusion. They're more pissed off about the characters who didn't make it in and they blame it on Honey Queen who "took" their spot.

Hence, the main reason people hate this shiny thing -> :metal:

Re: Mario Kart Wii U

Honey Queen>>>>Metal Mario

I can't imagine anyone who likes Metal Mario without prior liking Mario in the first place.

H. Queen >>>> Mario. Because H. Queen is such target of ridicule, it propels her to too-worthy-to-have-fans territory. So if H. Queen >>>> Mario for me, then H. Queen >>>> Metal Mario.

I'd still rather have H. Queen than Koopa Troopa or that green boogly-eyed frog with a super-inflated snot bubble in its face.

Re: Mario Kart Wii U

You can just call that "snot-bubbled frog" Yoshi, y'know? How would you like it if someone else called Mario "a stupid red fat mutated idiotic creep with an appendage for a nose"?

That's what the Luigi fanboys call him anyway.

But I was harsh. Still, some Yoshi fanboys' drivel has make me want to drivel about Yoshi. Yoshi is my Jar Jar Binks.

Re: Mario Kart Wii U

I dislike Metal Mario not because he replaced anybody, I dislike him because he's just a retextured Mario with a voice that sounds like Mario's going through a fan. The whole character just seems like a lazy last minute addition to the roster. :/

Re: Mario Kart Wii U

I like Metal Mario, I find him original, meaning he is a medium height character while he is the most powerful and heaviest.
Now since he appeared in Mario Kart 7 and Mario Tennis Open, I would not be surprised he appears in Mario Golf World Tour and Mario Kart Wii U.

We need to clarify his position, or he would always take the blame. I think Metal Mario should be officially defined as a texture option instead of a real character whenever he appears in any game.

Uh, there is something weird. Not only Bees aren't the most notable species in Marioverse, but Nintendo didn't try to find representives for the species which they used the most in past games. In Kart 7 the targets should be Koopa Troopa and Shy Guy.

Re: Mario Kart Wii U

Since we're all saying our opinions on characters I guess I'll join in.

I like Metal Mario, but I do not find him original. I can see why he is hated by people, I can see that he's just a lazy retexture and I see that characters like Waluigi should have been in before him. I like unusual and unexpected characters, the reason why I really like MK7's roster of characters because the 4 newcomers were strange additions.

But I'm the same person that loves it when generic enemies are playable (Blooper in MP8/Magikoopa in MP9/Dry Bones in Mario Kart DS/Wii) in the spin-offs so my opinion on roster choices is usually far different from everyone else.

A palette swap change would probably fix any of these issues. Something I would love to see implemented (but is never going to happen) is a costume system. Like Mario can have different suits (Bee Mario, Cloud Mario, Fire Mario, etc.) that you can unlock through different goals, cups or a shop system like Mario Tennis Open's.

Also, I'm a Yoshi fan (not a fanboy, I just like the character) but I don't mind when someone says they hate him. What is annoying though is when someone tries insulting a fictional character. All it does is make me see immaturity in said person and make my opinion of them diminish. Just because other fanboys do the same thing to characters you like does not make it any more justified. Although admitting that what was said was harsh/unnecessary/uncalled for usually redeems whatever it is that was said. It's mostly the people that insist that the character is horrible and it's justified that piss me off the most.

Re: Mario Kart Wii U

I'd say that MK7 just had random new additions. Wiggler was OK, but Waluigi and Bowser Jr. should have gotten in over him. Wiggler, Honey Queen, and Metal Mario should have been Bowser Jr., Waluigi, and Fawful. If not Fawful then someone like King Bob-Omb or Lubba would have been better than HQ.

The official alternative options we have are: a), colors of species, but mostly for yoshis and toads, b), adult women's alternative clothes (in Kart and Sport Mix), but both of them aren't widely used. I'm not sure if making palettes really cost time, Super Slugger did give a better collection of colors.

For using powerups, it would be unfair due to the fact other main characters haven't shown their own powerups. It's not appropriate until more main characters are playable in SMB games.

We're complaing about bad choices of newcomers, not all major characters should be in, as Birdo and Toadette weren't in too. If simply considering total appearances of recurring characters, you can only say you want Waluigi over another main character.

I think Kamek is a better choice to represent Magikoopas.

Then again, Kamek looks exactly like a standard Magikoopa. There's not a single difference. See Mario Party 9? That Magikoopa is called Kamek in Europe and Magikoopa in America. They look exactly the same. Kamella is bigger and looks way different from a standard Magikoopa, so I think she should represent the species.

You can argue that the Yoshi Kid is a far better representative than Yoshi with this argument

Am I the only one around here that doesn't give a lot about playable characters? As long as the gameplay and features are good (and Lakitu is playable (optional)), I'm buying it.

I don't really see Fawful happening btw.
I see how you just randomly tacked that on at the end just to upset me.

...Sorry if I'm a bit edgy today, I'm tired and the weather's bad...

Any way, about Kamek, yes, Kamella is more distinguishable, but Kamek has been around for way longer and has been in more games, so he just seems better and more likely.
