Not in MK8 but is kinda inside the topic.

Does anybody also like how the characters voices (and the game itself) when slowmoooode in Mario Strikers went making a strong shot?

Mannnn that was a cool little thing , that made me had even more fun lmao.

Peach shooting and the ''WooOooooOo'' ''hYAH!'' and the kritter in the goalie position was like ???????

Good times.

For MK8:

Well , i can admit i like Daisy's voice overall , she sounds considerably less annoying than in MKWii , which is amazing.

And For Rosalina , the best clips she has are when she does a ''wave hand trick'' and says Yeah!
When she is in the glider the only one i like is when she goes ''Huh Whoooooa...''

And of course the best , ''Chiest! Victoriiiieeeeee''

what on earth is that , i don't know but i like it.

i also like her ''success'' sounds but MK8 is a mess and put all the sounds to overcome the ''success'' sounds with the others .

For example in MKWii your character can be tricking and go ''Wooooooo'' but if he or she ''succeds'' into hitting somebody at the same time , the tricking clip will be cut and the ''success'' one will play.

In MK8 , ALL the clips overcome the ''success' sounds , almost like they aren't there , which is a shame.
Some of Rosalina's voice clips sound likes she's playing with a baby when going "wooooo" and "woohoo." Also, "ta-daaa," "Farewell~" and "See yaaaaaa~"

It's the best when Toad/Luigi/Donkey Kong is getting electrocuted in the meantime, especially if you attempt the slow-mo in Super Mario Strikers rather than Mario Strikers Charged.

That being said, compared to Mario Kart Wii's, Mario Kart 8's voices sound very underwhelming. Mario sounds like he just inhaled helium and the voice direction told Charles Martinet to dial up shrieking.

Yeah, I kinda see what you're saying. DK doesn't sound as funny in this game(r.i.p. WAHAAAY, UUUUSCHYAHOOO!, BRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!, DAHAAAAAUGH!!, DAA! HOOHOO! HOOHOOOUOOO!, GRAAA!, AH!HOOHOOHOOHOOHOOHOOHOO!, HEEHAW!, and my favorite, DAHAA-AROO!). Baby Peach doesn't let out a scream as appealing when she gets hit with something(although it's still an appealing scream), I swear Baby Daisy went from just annoying to so annoying that just seeing her enrages me more than my "good friend" ever has and rivals......it..... in terms of making me mad, Luigi sounded funnier/cuter in Mario Kart Wii(r.i.p. TOUGH GUY!), and Yoshi still makes me smile hard but he doesn't say "Yo yo!" when he passes someone anymore(But I love when he goes "Uh-huh!" with that bawss expression on his face). However, I think that Mario now has cuter voice clips. I also like how he says "Come on!" when mugging at people who bump into him.

Totally!

i love slow mo in Strikers more than in charged , i think its more common in that game.

And yeah in MK8 the voice acting went downhill.

I always pray i don't get the normal intro when booting the game , otherwise the horror ... MARIO KART EIIGGGGHTTTTTT ... poor Mario's voice was cracking like hell.

All the main people , but ironically Daisy , sound better in Wii than in 8 tbh.

Re: Mario Kart 8

Donkey Kong's off-track/bad start voices are the best.

"Duh, aaaaawwwwaaaoo!" (VO_DK_STR_FAIL2), *incomprehensible barfing noises* (VO_DK_STR_FAIL_END), and "mooo-a-woah-agh!" (VO_DK_STR_FAIL). I like this one "Ooo! Hoo-hoo-hoo-hoo-hoo-hoo-hoo!" (VO_DK_DMG_L) where he sounds like he's panicking; that's when he's bombed or otherwise sent flying.

VO_DK_GOL_BAD_END, the one where he's whimpering and makes mmmmmm growling noises is my favorite lose noise. The Mario Kart 8 ones just don't compare to this one. But my favorite by far is the VO_DK_STR_FAIL_END one. It's hard to live up to it, and Mario Kart 8 doesn't have any equivalents.

The file names correspond to this download.

For Mario, I don't think Mario Kart 8's can compare to his Aiiiiiieeeeeeeeeeee! (VO_MR_DMG_L) (the part, near the end, where his voice makes a quick downward slur off kills me). Mario seems to put more oomph in his hurt noises compared to Mario Kart 8's, though I do like Mario's "he-ey!. I also prefer his "gotcha" voices. Particularly, "I got'chu" (VO_MR_ITM_SCES_END), "Yes, wahoo" (VO_MR_ITM_SCES) and "Oh, yeah!" (VO_MR_ITM_SCES2), so that's all of those. His stunt voices are also much better. In the end, Mario from Mario Kart Wii sounds like himself more. In Mario Kart 8, his voice is almost screeching. If you check these files, you can listen to pretty much anything with a Kart64Mario prefix: they usually have a shrieking quality to them.

Strikers just has more vocal-sounding characters. Just like Mario Kart Wii, they had much more oomph to their voices compared in Mario Strikers Charged. Just listen to Daisy between those two games, particularly her electrocution noises. Man, Daisy's voice when electrocuted never gets old for me. The louder she is, the better, heh.

I agree. I already outlined earlier why I think Mario characters just sounded a ton better and had more personality in general in Mario Kart Wii compared to Mario Kart 8. In Mario Kart Wii, when characters are hit by shells and bombs and bananas, you can hear the difference and the more powerful their hit, the "stronger" their sound is. e.g. a banana slip would be a yelp, a shell is a short groan, and an explosion is yelling and moaning. It seems like it's the reverse in Mario Kart 8, where shells and explosions cause characters to yelp, but bananas and fireballs make them panic much more. But making appropriate moaning noises is part of sound design, and it does add satisfaction if you manage to hear your victims' reactions, and Mario Kart 8 doesn't deliver adequately.

There's zero denying about the personality of characters in Mario Kart Wii (arguably the best Yoshi voice acting in the series), although Double Dash made a possibly even more egregious work in the case of Toad (his desperation when, after the kart is blown, he's dragged behind the kart is memorable) and Bowser Jr. (but the voice actor was different, so there was little the new one could do to compensate that). In the case of Mario Kart 8, I think that the banana has a very long hitstun, arguably longer than that of shells, so this is porbably why the characters that are subjected to these kinds of hitstuns panic much more.

Re: Mario Kart 8

Yeah , it's true . It sounds like a banana hits ''harder'' than a bomb lol

The explosions in Wii were a literal blast lol , and the characters really suffered . Good acting indeed.

In 8 , Rosalina for example says literally ''oh ouch...'' after a explosion and in Wii it was like ''Yiauuuuch!!!!!!''

the difference is very noticeable.

This also applies to the ''success'' sounds , hearing Rosalina say''Yesss!'' in MKWii is extremely satisfactory after hitting somebody , i don't know why it's just the best thing ever.

And this kinda doesnt happen in 8 at all , im not feeling it.

Re: Mario Kart 8

I don't think the actors are the one who are bad, they just have bad direction from the makers of the game.

Re: Mario Kart 8

NOE teased N64 Kalimari Desert for MK8, in various languages:

Re: Mario Kart 8

Pat of me really really wants DLC, but the rational part of me is saying DLC is done. Unless something shows up at E3, then it's not happening.

Re: Mario Kart 8

I really want more Mario Kart 8 DLC goddammit

Re: Mario Kart 8

It's called the 5.5.1 kernel exploit. ;)

Re: Mario Kart 8

i just want them to fix their mistakes

but at this point i don't really care anymore

Re: Mario Kart 8

WHAT IF THEY JUST MADE A JOKE ABOUT THE TRAIN THOUGH?

FUCK FUCK FUCK DONT TEASE ME LIKE THAT SCUMTENDO

Re: Mario Kart 8

i dont think i can take it if this is just a meme nintendo posted and it means nothing

Re: Mario Kart 8

Man I don't know how I can download the DLC without Nintendo fucking around with the kernel exploit we have though :(

Re: Mario Kart 8

I don't know, we somehow got Smash Bros.'s patch for 1.1.6. even after we exploited our game.

I hope whatever this is doesn't require a system update or I will be so pissed. I'm already mad enough at Nintendo for too many times this and last year.

Re: Mario Kart 8

Hmmmm (secrety wishes for characters in a bunble with tracks*)

But really , why Nintendo stopped so fast with MK8? Its literally one of the very few must buys in the system and one of the 2 Mario games that dont really suck or are content lacking in the Wii U , the other being 3DWorld

i dont get their logic at all.

Re: Mario Kart 8

Mario Kart 8 is also the Wii U's best selling game

Hyrule Warriors still has DLC coming out for it btw

Re: Mario Kart 8

Koei Tecmo, Omega Force, and Team Ninja are probably doing most of the development for the Hyrule Warriors DLC. The DLC decisions for MK8 are probably made by EAD.

Re: Mario Kart 8

wario colosseum

please

Re: Mario Kart 8

I don't really like that track period. It's pretty ugly to me.
