Mario Kart 8 / Mario Kart 8 Deluxe

Using Morton + Sport Bike + Leaf Tires + Bowser Kite on MK8U (that 4.25 speed with 4 Acceleration was a treat), I can assure you that Dolphin Shoals giving 5.25 speed and 4 acceleration made the difference, this was even more noticeable in 150cc.

Believe me, during my Mario Kart 8 career, I've spent a lot of time using my Rosalina + Biddybuggy + Azure Roller + Parachute combo, and it should really have an advantage at Dolphin Shoals with its 5.25/6 water speed. But even then, I've had moments where I still end up losing to players who use 4.5/6 water speed combos or worse.

You do realise what game you're playing right

stats don't mean shit when you get hit with every item under the sun and only get coins in return

Sometimes it can be more than just that. You can potentially find yourself being outwitted by someone who's using a slower vehicle than you, and you can't even keep up.

That also depends on your skill however, you can sometimes stay with the same combo but with the CPU changing, and still losing to them.

Yeah you could use Morton and a 4.75/6 ground speed combo, and yet still struggle to keep up with someone who's using Daisy (who can't go better than 4.25/6 ground speed).

Even I have shown my racing experience with the slower combos and even won with them online. But every now and then, you'll run into someone who makes you look like an amateur or 3rd rate player.

  • So 1.2 just dropped, and it is slightly disappointing.

    • Players can use Pikmin-themed amiibo to unlock a Pikmin Suit for the Mii driver.
    • Race rules and course name are now displayed on loading screens for online and wireless play, as well as Mario Kart TV.
    • Players who are behind in online matches will receive items geared toward catching up more frequently.
    • In online matches, no more than two Piranha Plants will be granted as items at the same time.
    • Controls are no longer unresponsive when the timer runs out when choosing a Mii racing suit for online matches.
    • When a player uses an item right after the Super Horn in online matches, that item will now remain available for other players.
    • Item wheel no longer spins continuously in online matches.
    • Online matches now end as intended 30 seconds after the first place racer finishes.
    • The Boomerang now returns to the first slot, if possible, after a player catches it.
    • Items shown in a player’s item slots now display correctly when holding an item behind them.
    • No longer possible to use an item after it has been used to block an attack.
    • Communication errors no longer occur frequently while spectating or after spectating online matches.

This looks good on the surface, but none of these changes roll back to offline play. So the computer is still playing by different rules. Also, it doesn't fix one of the most glaring omissions, the lack of suits for newer Super Mario series amiibo. :daisy: :bowjr: :waluigi: :boo: :koopa:

Like, that was literally impossible prior to the update, so what just happened?

Explain?

There was a glitch where after blocking an attack with an item, that item could then be used again. Guess that's been fixed now.

If you're mad that Pikmin suits got added rather than yhose characters, you shouldn't be, since them adding the Pikmin suit proves that they're willing to add more suits, thus increasing the chance of those characters getting a suit in the future.

I never expected the game to get any updates. I figured it was just a release at there were done. Some of these changes I actually need to see though as words aren't enough.

I find it funny that Baby Daisy has been in just as many Mario Kart games as Diddy Kong and Birdo now.

I find it sad tbh. Diddy and/or Birdo (preferably both) should've accompanied Bowser Jr. and co. in Deluxe. Honestly, Funky and Petey too.

Baby Daisy is more of a Mario Kart mainstay than Funky and Petey now...

It's cooll that we have the babies and Koopalings + Bowser Jr in a handheld Mario Kart game now.

Baby Luigi has been in more Mario Kart games than Diddy Kong and Birdo and I'm not complaining.

Sure, he's not really worth talking about.
