Yeah.

They will have to try hard to top the series new rival, Sonic & Sega.
oh please sonic and sega aren't even in the same universe when it comes to popularity

In popularity, yes. But Sonic & All-Stars is IMO a much better game than Mario Kart. It's alot deeper than do a Grand Prix Cup x8 then do it 4 more times but faster each time.

That actually brings up a good point, I think it'd be good for Mario Kart if they had something more than just VS Race battle and Grand Prix. A story mode like people have said already would be cool.

Re: Mario Kart Wii U

Eh, Mission Mode is already kinda a step towards Story Mode. But not exactly. I really want a Story Mode just like Diddy Kong Racing. In fact, I'd probably even get a first day buy if Wizpig was the main villain lol

I don't require my racing games to be "deep" I require them to be fun (shocking yes) and from my experience Mario Kart Wii is a million times more fun then the new sonic racing game

now if only diddy kong racing was any good

Re: Mario Kart Wii U

The whole reason I put IMO there was to signify that I thought it was a better game and that you can like whatever you want.

Re: Mario Kart Wii U

I liked them the same actually

Re: Mario Kart Wii U

I'm eager to see what the visuals are like in Mario Kart Wii U

What?! D: But Diddy Kong Racing was an excellent racing game! It was even better than Mario Kart 64. It had more interesting features and the characters at least were full 3D models, and not 3D sprites like Mario Kart 64. It had Story Mode, the option of racing in airplanes and hovercrafts, good soundtrack, unlockable characters...

Also, am I the only one who considers Mickey's Speedway USA a good racing game as well?

I disagree, this game is good but the characters were badly balanced, the items are almost useless. Plane courses were frustrating because a simple passage in a wall make you lose.
Mario Kart 64 is much better.

Re: Mario Kart Wii U

Never played diddy kong racing but I never saw what was so great about mk64.

Game is slow as crap, tracks were either dull or insanely annoying.

Game was pretty ugly too, but that's mainly the 3d sprites, never liked them.

Then again I played Extreme-g 1 & 2 so that game feels more bland than grass.

There is actually a lot of kart racing games better than Mario Kart but people tend to forget about them because of Mario Kart. I like CTR more than any Mario Kart game personally.

Re: Mario Kart Wii U

An amazing improvement to MK:Remove rubberbanding.

Re: Mario Kart Wii U

Completely removing rubber-banding would make the game far too easy. I think some rubber-banding is the developers intention.

We didn't have extremely good graphics chips, you know

I assume when you're behind someone and it gives you a boost

Then explain why Diddy Kong Racing, Mario Party, Super Mario 64, and Ocarina of Time got away with better graphics?

As long as it's NOT Mario Kart 64's rubberbanding, I'm okay. Seriously, there are times where one CPU player will go so fast that it's impossible to get back into 1st place.

Mario Kart 7 seems manageable enough, since there would be at least one CPU who will be tailing you, but it would not outrun you. This in return will give you a chance to redirect any incoming Spiny Shells onto the trailing CPU player.

That's not rubber-banding.

Rubberbanding is when computer players get an unfair speed boost (they can go as fast as a star speed). You usually drive faster than them, but, abnormally, the CPUs can keep up with you, no matter how fast you go. That's rubber-banding.

Still don't understand? Play some Mario Kart 64 and you better will understand what I meant.

other n64 games looked better though, like extreme-g, turok, and some other stuff.

So that's not really an excuse.

Re: Mario Kart Wii U

I honestly find rubberbanding stupid and annoying, why not have somewhat intelligent AI to make the game difficult instead of making if hard by being hit by red shells whenever you are in first, but thats just MP.

I dunno. It could be just simply lazy programming instead of actually making the AI smarter. Though computers are getting smarter with each Mario Kart game.

I just hope they get smart enough so we won't need rubberbanding anymore.

Re: Mario Kart Wii U

If only computers get smart enough to not throw shells at random intervals. They can already shoot their stuff back when you approach them (but that's still pretty dumb, since you can easily avoid it as long as you're not directly behind them), as well as save Mushrooms for shortcuts. I highly doubt computers will ever get as smart as human racers, though, and I predict that rubber-banding will likely make a return
