Weak evidence, but it's still some support that RPGs don't get totally neglected. And Baby Peach is still a more realistic choice than other RPG characters, so...

I don't know if there are other people thinking what I'm thinking about how I feel Koopalings are shoehorned (like Rosalina) rather than slowly integrating in more and more Mario games, starting with the best game to put them in: baseball.

I don't even remember their voice. I think their character voices, something that defines the character the most, are just bland.

Even that would be disappointing with 7 newcomers being Koopas who all serve the same roles for the most part in their very unoriginal recent appearances. This causes me to push my expectations up to 40 or more.

See, this is my argument FOR H. Queen being in.
  • H. Queen was included because Nintendo wanted a female heavyweight (Rosalina was changed to a cruiserweight).
  • The only other viable female heavyweight is Pom-Pom, and with that Koopaling stunt Nintendo pulled off, her chances have been reduced.
  • We also need a returning character that debuted in Mario Kart 7.
  • While H. Queen has been an apparently unpopular character, that has never deterred Nintendo from returning other "unpopular" characters including Baby Daisy.

This is based on my opinions however, but I think I made several strong points.

I did bring up the following with the unconfirmed character inputs...

Feather
Dry Bones

Light
Diddy Kong

Medium
Birdo
Bowser Jr.

Cruiser
King Boo

Heavy
Funky Kong
Dry Bowser
King K. Rool

I did also mention Dixie Kong and Tiny Kong, but keeping the roster amount at a value that's divisible by 8 (excluding Miis) tends to be the trend for a lot of Mario Kart titles.

And if you're wondering about K. Rool, he could always wear a Red Baron type of outfit, similar to the beta model below.

Bowser Jr. is better served as a lightweight.

I can imagine Iggy Koopa being middle weight more than a cruiser.

That would be good too, but he did show up playable in Super Sluggers before Smash so...
