Daisy wasn't completely forgotten though, she still appears in sport games. Oh, what was the discussion about?

but it made sense that they basically started anew at that point. Mario went from carpenter to plumber, and instead of the real world, it was the Mushroom Kingdom, so it figures there would be a new "damsel in distress". So I guess they tried to start yet another "world" with SML, but afterward, while Pauline was totally forgotten, Daisy was carried over into as I called them, those"allstar" (sports, etc) games.

(Let's not even start on how they botched the Donkey Kong character canon! They chose Jr. for the original Super Mario Kart, but afterwards, which DK was which became totally muddled).
I think SML was based on the same world of SMB instead of a different canon. Mario was sent to begin a new journey. Daisy and Peach were definitely different characters even though I don't think Daisy was a right choice for the Mario Tennis 64 as mentioned. For Pauline, what she need is a more well-described own story or more relationships in Mario world.

At least DK and Wario have built their own seperate world. If Daisy had a series consisted of desert-themed adventure games, she wouldn't be mentioned in this topic.

Yeah. :/ Is Donkey Kong from Donkey Kong Donkey Kong, Donkey Kong's father, or Donkey Kong's grandfather? And how come Mario hardly aged, and maybe he aged negatively (remove their mustaches and see who looks younger)?

We know that Diddy Kong is basically the new Donkey Kong Jr., though.

I think Daisy was intended to be an alternate to Peach, but now, she's mostly her own character with a more distinct personality, and she deserves much better than this.

I don't know if Pauline fits in Mario's style because she's there so rarely. She doesn't look that out of style (she's not a hypersexualized creature, for instance) but since she appeared in no games outside of Mario vs. Donkey Kong, that's why she feels so strange.

Still, I don't like how Nintendo is neglecting basically their first damsel in the Mario series

Oh, Nintendo neglects anyone that isn't called Mario, Luigi, Toad, Yoshi, Bowser, Peach, Bowser Jr., and also isn't a Bowser minion that has appeared in Super Mario Bros. and Super Mario World.

Lucky for Rosalina

Actually quite a lot of enemies from World only appeared there, or got limited appearances after that, though I guess it is more than some

She was VERY lucky indeed. I still can't believe she made it in. I've watched the trailer where she was revealed many times because I still don't get how she became playable. I still have my doubts, though. I'm not entirely sure she fits in the game, and I fear Nintendo is going to overuse her and ruin her like they did with Daisy and Waluigi. I'll hate it if I see her in Strikers, Baseball, Olympics, etc. Golf is ok, though.

You forgot Mario Hell.

AKA Mario Party. Man that should be notable too.

Yeah, I don't want to see her in Mario Party either. I got very happy when I saw she was going to appear in Island Tour, but now that I think about it, I'm not that happy now. I hope she's exclusive to that game and she stops appearing in the Party series, playable or not. I want her appearances to be scarce so it's "special" whenever she appears.

Just like Baby Luigi :D

I personally want to see more of the enemies who first appeared in that game and have had limited appearances since.

Give me more Chargin' Chucks, Rexes, Jumping Piranha Plants, Bony Beetles, Amazin' Flyin' Hammer Bros, Dino Rhinos, Blarggs, Sumo Bros, and Thwimps.

I'm happy a few of these came back for NSMBU.

Rex should become playable in something soon. I always liked that enemy. The only bad thing is that it resembles Yoshi a little bit too much. But hey, so does Koopa Troopa, and look at where he is.

I think that should be a praise because distinctive appearances can highlight the characters. I hoped that Pauline could have been described as a successful manager who was going to take over the park, but she was only described as a visitor.

In Rosalina's case, I hoped that she can have a more different hairstyle and a costume that combines the looks of attendent and goddess, not making her too princess-like.

Maybe the story would tell, but she is too random due to the fact that her role is unclear (not a good friend of Mario, etc), and many "unrandom" characters mysteriously disappear. I don't mind Rosalina, but at least Nintendo should give physical excuses.

There's something I don't understand. Do all players share their lives now? They don't seem to have an individual amount of lives =/

Yeah, from what I understand, it works like this - for the multiplayer case, if one person gets K.O.'d then the lives count does down by one; the person that got K.O.'d comes back in a bubble to rejoin the stage gameplay. HOWEVER, if ALL four get K.O.'d at the same time (or fall off course), they're forced back to the beginning of the stage or at the checkpoint (if they reached that part of the stage).

If we're going through the stages as single player, it's still the standard process -- if we get K.O.'d or fall of course at any time, we're forced back to the beginning of the stage, or back to the checkpoint (if we've reached it).

I don't know about shared lives. I better trust the fungus and grind for 1up's when it comes out. :P

I'm not sure if I like the shared lives...

Since this is a 4 player game, then how does this work? If someone plays this fifth character then one of the others would be left over?

I also think Daisy never shourd have been a separate character. When that first came out, I wondered why they would use another princess. I guess it was originally supposed to be a separate universe or something, then they began crossing the characters over in the subsequent “ Nintendo allstars” games.

Funny, when I first started seeing the name “Peach”, I thought it was yet another character, then I saw that it was a new name for Princess Toadstool. (I still wondered why the new name). So they probably should have just said Daisy was another name for Toadstool.
Dude, where the fuck have you been? She hasn't been called Princess Toadstool since Super Mario RPG.

I am very die hard Mario gamer. So I collect lives like clockwork and rarely die. So by day one I'll probably have over 100 lives. Then when I hang out with buddies I won't care.

THAT ASIAN STYLE THEME AT THE END. BEAUTIFUL. Just gonna add to all the other amazing Asian styled themes that Nintendo has done.
*Pagoda Peak
*Sammer's Kingdom
*Chai Kingdom

But I actually love the music now... Idk I thought it was terrible but... I changed my mind.

The game looks pretty good but that trailer/main level music is terrible.

I actually like it, I guess it was that second trailer that got me into the feel of the music. I really hope to listen to the full soundtrack soon. And then I see people complaining about the Castle theme, it is not reused, it is a remix/arranged piece.
