This thread where you admit you like games most people on the forum dislike.

Yoshi's Island DS

Also this sort of thread would probably be better in the Video Games forum unless you prefer it here?

I'm not sure really, but probably super princes peach if anything.

Super Paper Mario

Definitely this. I know some people here hate it to death (proof) but I honestly love the music and the collectibles in the game. It's quite nostalgic for me since I played it around the time I was active on MW.

Mario Party games. All of them except for 9

everything

I guess Super Mario Galaxy 2, if it counts.

What's wrong with 9?

bad character choices, bleh mini games, the whole leader thing looks pretty silly too, some boards like dumb, especially DK's.

I'm sure there are more reasons.

Aside from an even weaker character roster than the previous console Mario Party (Mario Party 8), Mario Party 9 has lackluster board gameplay that was watered down from the previous Mario Party games. Forgoing the classic battle royal with the car mechanic, nearly everything that happens in this game is predetermined by luck, since everyone is moving together, unlike the classic battle royale system, which has characters moving independently of each other. There are also way too many opportunities in this game to lose your ministars, and the rewards for beating the mini-games is very mere compared to the sums of money you would receive if you won a minigame. The items in this game is definitely lack-luster, since every single one of them simply affects your dice block roll, instead of more dynamic effects from items such as the Items from the first three Mario Party games or the orbs from Mario Party 6/7. There's even less strategy involved when it comes to that. And frankly, the boards themselves just suck. Period.

This game would be fun to play with a group of friends, but not when you're by yourself. I absolutely love making the computer's lives miserable. It's very easy to do so in the previous Mario Party games. Now, like, everyone is being rewarded when they play a minigame. It shouldn't work like that way. Speaking of mini-games, there is an utter lack of 2 vs. 2 minigames, something my sister and I liked. There's not even team battle. Why would they get rid of the concept? It worked well since Mario Party 4; why not add it in this game?

Now, all of this would have been amended if there was a separate option to play battle royale mode, but as with Nintendo's developers, they clearly don't know the difference between addition, removal, or replacement. Sadly, replacement has been the case for this game, and us Mario Party fans miss the classic concept, which hasn't been used since several years ago.

To sum it all up, this game would have worked well if:

  • The car mechanic had been better executed
  • The item system didn't receive a complete overhaul with disappointing items
  • A stronger roster
  • An option to play battle royale aka classic mode
  • 2 vs. 2 minigames

I don't find it unreasonable that you do love Mario Party 9 and therefore I won't call you out on it.

Both Super Mario Galaxy games. Also YIDS, but I hadn't played the original first, so I didn't know if it was better or whatever.

Also Skyward Sword.

Heck, probably most games on the Wii in general, considering people generally don't like any of them because they have motion controls.

I actually thought the car mechanic was a bit odd for Mario Party, since the past 8 just had everyone moving their separate ways, and I think that's how it should have stayed.

I just started playing MP9, so I can't really say much about it tho.

I haven't played MP9, but from what I've seen of it, even though it seems easier, it also has some really smart board features, like the Boos that chase you, and the Bob-omb that explodes, and all those things. Although I wish there were more minigames, rather than them being random.

Basically the problem with Mario Party 9 was WAY too much luck. You had almost NO control over anything. It's just luck around every corner. Mini-games were well done though.

Games I like that not many people like? A lot. Super Paper Mario, Super Princess Peach, almost all Mario Parties, etc.

Games that are in my favorites that not many people like? Nothing that I can think of. Each of my favorite games, people have also liked them. :p

I thought Mario Party 4 was the best one too.

And I liked SPM as well.
