This thread where you admit you like games most people on the forum dislike.

Eh, I guess it's matter of opinion.

The truth is, as long as there are new levels (check), new powerups that drastically change the gameplay (check), and inventive level design (check), I'll still have fun with it.

And I generally prefer the more linear structure of this game. Like I said in the other board, I don't like Super Mario 64.

SMG was pretty linear too and i don't see much "magic" in the game, but whateva I guess.

New... super... mario... bros. 2 *runs away bawling*

"Well-made" being a subjective term. Disagree with me all you want, but I disliked the linearity of Galaxy 2, and I disliked the Green Stars even more. All the magic the first one had, the second one just removed it.
I disagree because I got the 2nd game first and it felt more magical then Galaxy 1 though it was my first experince of Galaxy so my opinion might of been diffrent if I had got the 1st one first.

Because games are way too fucking expensive for me to waste money on "the same bullshit as last time," when that money could be put into a game that stands out and that the developers clearly cared about. I want unique and interesting experiences, not just a few different levels and power-ups to tide me over until the next batch of different levels and power-ups, because that's what we call DLC, not a full retail release; if the new game is basically just the same as the previous game, then why don't I just keep playing the previous game instead if it's the same thing?

This complacent attitude only works if you just stick to one or a few game series and never venture out of them, which kind of ruins your credibility as far as broader game commentary goes.

I guess you're right.

(Can the Wii even give out DLC? I know that's not really an excuse, I'm just wondering)

If memory serves I think megaman 10 had dlc.

Although I think it was partially already programmed into the game anyway.

Well if the Wii did I would expect just unlockable content found in a downloads section after you do a certain task

Basically just unlockable content that you can choose to put on

However, the Wii is being phased out :)() and replaced

The Wii can certainly give out DLC, but it's store couldn't support more than 40mbs of data for any download, so something as big as an expansion pack would have been impossible. Thankfully, the Wii U and the 3DS can support downloads of more than 10GBs, and seeing how NSMB2 had DLC, I could see Nintendo going the DLC level route instead of getting out a full sequel this time.

Hopefully the Wii U won't do stuff like this.

And I know people complain about the NSMB games, but they all had a purpose, at least in a business sense. I mean, NSMB was the first 2D Mario in years, NSMBWii was the first one on a console in years and it had multiplayer, and NSMBU was a launch title, so it was basically MADE to try and sell systems when it first came out.

The only one I don't understand is NSMB2, but maybe Super Mario 3D Land didn't sell as well as 2D Mario.

So I think there won't be any more 2D Mario for a while.

All NSMB except the first two are soulless cash-ins whose only purpose is to try and get money without putting any effort into the game at all, recycling assets and just not giving any care at all into the game, which wouldn't be surprising for someone like EA or THQ, but Nintendo is known for not doing shit like this, and this is probably the only time I would actually agree that they're just "selling the same games over and over".

It's not just a lack of innovation, it's because it's like DLC at retail price. The only things new about that game are things to be expected out of new games, such as power-ups, levels, and music. Super Mario Galaxy 2 felt really stale.
From what i've heard from the people that matter (A.K.A The Retusprae Crew) Super Mario Galaxy 2 is both funner and better then smg therefore it sounds like a better game no matter what a baby who happens to be named luigi says

No I was replying to the magic part of your post. And I don't mind linear games I just like them more if there is secrets hidden in the levels like say the secret Super Mario Sunshine missions.

"People who matter" is entirely subjective

Super Mario Bros. 2 : unique stats for each character & overall fun with the physics and the picking things up and throwing 'em.. I especially love the mask chasing you when you pick up the key lol... and Mouser is one of my favorite characters

Luigi Is Missing (snes) : I like the sprite animations

That game never existed.

Unless you meant Mario Is Missing.

And did you seriously like the sprites in that game?

Well, if it's so bad it's funny type is the reason you like the game, then I understand. My absolute favorite movie is probably Birdemic and Plan 9 from Outer Space, and both are so bad it's funny.

I get that you like them because they're fun to laugh at, but really? You know there's millions of good movies out there that are actually good, so this seems really dumb.

I have a thing for bad movies. They have a special place in my heart.
