Could the Wii U be nintendo's last home console

Celestial Guide
The Wii U is being outselled by XBox360, PS3 and even the Wii in the holiday season, it's starting to go to the point Nintendo are entering the situation as Sega. We all know Wii dominated the sales at the beginning but Microsoft's XBox360 is gaining sales fast. It's moving on to overtake Wii sales in the UK and now bad things are happening to Nintendo. Saying that Sony are also in a bit of a pickle (though PS3 sales are doing ok), Nintendo will need to fire a very good Wii U game or they are gone.

I will still support Nintendo all the way and will hope for sales to raise (and get a Wii U when I get round to getting one). Of course as most of us here are now the so called "odd nintendo fans". We will always enjoy their classics. If Nintendo's Wii u fails so badly in sales, they can still become third party and make some good games for other consoles.

Not to mention the Vita's horrible sales, that as I've already mentioned also puts Sony in a a pickle.

So what are your thoughts.

You are wrong, CrapBox 360 and PS3 have lower price and US economy have problems so people buy cheaper consoles. Same as PS2 is still popular than PS3 when it came out. Did you saw Nintendo Direct? Their new X game gained more than 500,000 views in youtube. If Wii U is a failure (It will going to not happen), Nintendo is right now planning next gen for Wii U and 3DS. Also UK is a apple area so people in there buy apple products and play games. Wii U's launch is way better than Xbox 360 and PS3 when it started.

Get that "Nintendo is DOOMED" shit out of here, it's only been out for 2 months, just let it pick momentum. It probably won't sell as good as the Wii, but I expect better than Gamecube levels, nothing that will sink Nintendo down.

Come on! The Wii U has been out for like, 2 months. 2 months is not enough time to find out if they Wii U is sinking.

Nintendo products are better sellers in the long-run, not the short-run

Nintendo won't leave the console market until the very idea of a console becomes obsolete. And even then, we'd probably have the Nintenphone or Nintencloud to take over right where the last console left off.

This would have been a nice good post, if you hadn't added your fanboy jabs at microsoft/sony in there.

Though yea, Nintendo is in no way out of the game, the Wii U just came out, give it some time.

Did I say Poop Station 3? No, I don't like 360 but I'm planning to get PS4 when it comes out

Wii U sold 3 million while PS3 sold 1 million

the Xbox jab was still very unnecessary, though.

Pretty much this.

Lock please.

Why? You should at least give a good reason you feel the need to lock this thread

Alternately, you can just let it die.

Lock it, there's no discussion to be made here, it's all just fanboy stuff.

Yeah, I was trying not to be a fanboy sorry if I was. :P

Well, I want to fancy you about this information.

Discs are very cheap, and they buy it in such large quantities that it costs even less. Nintendo doesn't get the majority of it's money for the consoles themselves. They get it in the games. The more games people buy, the more money Nintendo is going to make.

Personally, I think the launch line-up for the Wii U was lacking, and probably was one of the reasons why people were not interested in buying it yet. I mean, people know the price is going to go down, and they also knew that it didn't require much difference from Wii to Wii U, so why go into the rush to pay for a expensive console that people only knew of the price for two months.

Which is probably the other reason. I mean, we knew about the Wii price much longer than Wii U. People were probably a bit thrown off about the pricing, and were a little surprised at the release date. That was another factor with the lack of Wii U sales, but I mean they sold 3/5 of what they hoped that would sell.

Trust me, Nintendo is a lot more stable than what people believe. It would take more than a lack of sales to stop them from going on.

Look at the PS3's launch price.

Also yeah, I mean I want a new Zelda game for the Wii U. I think Wind Waker might be out by the end of this year.

Nintendo says for the 10 year anniversary of Wind Waker. Wind Waker came out in 2003.

It's going to be this year.

That will most likely be the game that will make me get a Wii U.

I'll get All-Stars racing transformed and Mario bros U as well and maybe a few others.

I actually think the Wii U is really expensive. didn't Nintendo say that their systems were going to be cheap because they will never play DVDs so the consoles focus on just games?

Yeah hate the price.

Nintendo are adding a lot of new features though. It's first rival will be revealed on the 20th this month. I see how that looks.

Also could this be merged into the Wii U topic, it seems it will be fair their.
