I actually think the Wii U is really expensive. didn't Nintendo say that their systems were going to be cheap because they will never play DVDs so the consoles focus on just games?

They are cheap, relatively speaking.

$250 is a lot less than the PS4 and Xbox 8 will probably be going for at launch.

it's because they already lose money selling them at that price

that's called a quarterly profit that means that they made a profit this financial quarter but they lose money with each wii u sold
