Mario and Luigi: Dream Team

Yeah. The Mario games these days aren't up to snuff, because the Mario series has literally run its course. Almost everything that can be done with the Mario series has been done, and we'll be lucky if they produce another good game in the next two years. It's not Miyamoto's fault that he's done so much for this series. Everything has to end someday, and I can already see that Mario is having to slow down.

Frankly, I blame the fans. Every time Nintendo brings out a new game, they either love it or hate it. Normally, the fans hate it. They want more, a different concept, one that doesn't suck. Believe it or not, Nintendo already know this, and they struggle to bring out a new game that's to your liking. And once that game comes out, the fans whine and moan about how terrible the game is, and Nintendo struggle to bring out another game.

And even though they may not be up to the normal standards of the older Mario games, I still find hours of fun playing these games, and you should all do the same, or else the series will end up reusing plots and characters that will just ruin the series altogether
That... was beautiful.

I will definitely look forward to playing SS, despite all this "SS sucks." bullcrap thanks to you! Heck, even my brother said it. :/

It's more like SS is different than all the other Paper Mario games. It has flaws but it doesn't mean it's bad. But people are allowed their opinions, even if they state them like facts.

I can see where you're gettin' at. But I mean, come on! They were exactly the same when SPP came out. Don't knock it 'till ya try it, people!

I have to disagree with you on some points.

There are many games where Nintendo comes out with this awesome idea that has so much potential, such as Sticker Star while we are on the topic. They build it up, and they show us stuff where there is a chain chomp partner, this new mole king, and an overworld to explore. Players would have been somewhat contented by it, with the usual "I still think TTYD is better" or "There was just very minor thing that bothered me" critique. Some really good Mario games that were released in the Wii period have been SSBB, BiS, SMG, MSM, MKW - all worth being mentioned as very well-made Mario games despite some minor issues select fans have over them.

However, it's games like SS, SMG2 (somewhat, I'll give that), and MP9 in which fans have reason to be annoyed with Nitendo. It's the fact that they'll change something that wasn't necessarily wrong. Sure some people felt that SMG was missing something, and sure MP series as of late was lacking in the mini-game area, but they changed it so much that it was no longer right to fit it in the category they were apart of. There was potential for Nintendo to make a TTYD-esque 3DS game that soon was altered because the boring and rather tedious Sticker Star game. MP9 threw out the competitive-ness of the series and instead replaced it with players have to work together and whoever beats a boss will probably win.

It's not the usual "oh I don't like this game because of [insert minor detail here]" stuff, but it's over the fact that they have shown constantly they have the knowledge and power to make a game that fans would mildly complain about. I mean, everyone complains about everything once in awhile. But for them to just sit around and make these games and call them something they have nothing to do with the series is just a shame. It's so hard for people to call SS part of the PM series, or MP9 as part of the MP8 series.

Hell, even my family - who all love have a family night playing MP and rarely ever play video games (which can be compared to the gamers that Mario games are focused on) - after playing MP9 once were annoyed with the changes. They told me that it was so cheap and lame how you move in the same car and that you don't get to explore the board yourself, and you're stuck on this linear path that is cheap as hell. The last time we played MP9, they gave up after three turns, and had me fetch MP8 so that we could really have fun.

Mario has been degressing badly lately. Not because they are running out of ideas, which is false as they never explored Luigi's mind before in a game like this, but because they are stuck in thinking of ways for more age groups to play their games. They believe that they need games where people will be easy to understand and to prevent any stress if they can't beat a level. Instead, they are just pushing away Mario fans that are not 5 year olds because they are tired OF the five year old games that are like Sticker Star or MP9.

The main issue really is how they are making the transitions. We want new things, but if they completely revamp it into something that doesn't match the series, then fans get mad. But why are the fans mad when that's what we asked them? Well, they need to have both old and new. They need to moderate how much new changes there will be while allowing some old things in to make the transition into the game better. You don't just jump from Red to Blue in the Rainbow; you need to have that orange, yellow, and green color in between. Basically, find a grey area, not go from black to white on things.

M&L: DT have very much potential in it, but my fear is that Nintendo will avoid trying new things. I feel that Nitendo will not bring any old characters into sprite form and I feel that we will see a lot of BiS characters repeated. That last one isn't really that bad, but I do want to see some new supportive characters other than Starlow. There is so much Potential for Nitendo to use with this game, but I'm feeling like it might begin to derail the previous series. Here's why:

1 - Mario is alone. It hasn't shown Mario and Luigi in a battle together. All it has shown is Mario attacking by himself with a group of Luigi's following him. Now, this may be in Luigi's mind only, but that gets me to the next point.

2 - Exploring Luigi's dreams will be short and choppy. I do want to explore Luigi's mind, but if Mario is alone then it probably won't be very deep into his dreams. Heck, this will uneven Luigi's EXP points and make Mario level up more than Luigi. Of course, it's too early to make that call.

3 - Characters. Starlow has been shown, and some new enemies, so it seems to be going good, but how much more are we going to get? I am glad that Nitendo has made some new enemies, but I hope that we aren't recycling too much from BiS. I understand if Nintendo would be weary after the harsh remarks of Sticker Star, but everything is fine in moderation. Let some new stuff in while bringing a few old things in to allow a cleaner and more satisfying transition into the game.

Uh-huh. I understand some things you said.

Sticker Star was not a 5 year old game. It had a 5 year old name.

SMG2 was good. MK7 was good. 3D Land and NSMB2 (yes) were decent. No one really complaining about NSMBU. Apart from Yarn Yoshi everything I've seen upcoming looks promising.

The main point of that whole rant is that he believes Nintendo is trying to change what he thinks shouldn't be changed.

Which is what I said about SS, that people were disappointed because it didn't have much in common with previous paper Mario games, but it was a decent game by itself.

Although I think basing what your parents think as fun (the MP9 part) was stupid because not everyone thinks like your parents.

True dat.

Mario Party 9 still has the awesome mini-games. They were so much better than the ones in Mario Party 8. Just stray far away from the car gameplay of Mario Party 9 and Mario Party 9 is a pretty solid game.

I hope Baby Luigi never appears again in the Mario series.

Yeah, about that for the most part, but at the same time not.

And I meant the family think and the MP9 is that they are like the targeted group of people Nintendo is aiming for: family gameplay where it doesn't mean that everyone has to be hardcore gamers. Now, I'm sorry if I was implying they were basically representing the entire group of people because I know they aren't.

Also, I really got to stop going into this massive rants.

Well, past Mario Party titles like Mario Party 5 were nice. I have nothing against Mario Party 9, I have seen videos of it, and to me it looks good.

Getting eaten by a Yoob is better than not appearing at all, so therefore, you're being unnecessary cruel.

We all know Yoshi would be rescued shortly after.

Of course he's useless. It's not like you can grab him and whack him around as if he were some sort of wrench or something.

If Nintendo came up with that idea for Mario & Luigi: Dream Team, they would make billions.
