PS4 meeting 2013

The middle part flips up to be another screen.

There's no need to make extremely drastic changes to it just for the sake of changing it. Hell, I wouldn't mind if the Wii U's controller was similar to the Gamecube's.

N64's controller 4 evur.

Anyway, I'm on the fence about getting it.

Yeah, I know. I wasn't saying it was a bad thing that it looked like the same ol' PS controller.

I never owned an N64 but those controllers look different.

Not really that interested in this.

was the whole used games not working on the ps4 been confirmed or not?

Well, it might not be able to play PS1 and PS2 games because of hardware limitations (a complete assumption there) but I can see it playing PS3 games. Speaking of which, I heard only certain PS3s have backwards compatibility; is that true? I only have a PS2, so I don't know for sure.
Original versions did, but Sony removed it because they wanted people to buy the new games instead of older games for the PS2

No, they removed it because that emulation was more or less "let's put a PS2 inside a PS3 and see if it works". Most games had issues, and it added like 100$ to the price, so you can see why they removed it. Besides, most awesome PS2 titles are available to play anyway either in HD remasters or the PSN store, and neither is really as expensive.

You spelt "Classic Controller" wrong.

Hated Classic Controller, Pro Controller is better

I use the GameCube controller for VC, but I do want to own a Classic Controller at some point.

Oh, I see. I didn't know they re-released some PS2 games on the PSN store; that's really neat. What are some games they re-released?

Must take a lot of effort to make a next-gen console that's made of pure invisible energy.

I heard that the PS4 is dropping the Blue-ray. Not sure if that is true, but since it's not backwards compatability, I think that's why.

To be honest, I'm not impressed. The screen is so small that you can't even yell at Sony for copying the Wii U Gamepad. I really wonder how the sales will go when they come out.

NOW

THIS IS INTERESTING AND STUFF

"The PS4 will not feature backwards compatibility with older PlayStation titles, according to today's PlayStation 4 conference. Instead, Sony will use cloud gaming to allow the system to access older PlayStation back catalogue. No details as of yet in regards to whether or not we'll be able to play games we already own. The system will use Gaikai's cloud tech for the streaming feature, and eventually they're looking into putting older PlayStation games on any device via streaming."

so uh yeah

gaikai is basically a service in which, well

okay imagine having really good internet service

now imagine that internet service streaming mass effect 3 to facebook, where you can actually play mass effect 3 on facebook

now imagine that internet service streaming ps1, ps2, and ps3 games to your ps4

yeah, kinda interesting to say the least

here's crysis 2 running on gaikai inside of a web browser (i assume it's firefox/chrome)

Some IGN links regarding the controller and all that jazz:

Probably won't get it for a few years after it's released.

But the controller doesn't look all that bad. Just like it has a battery compartment on the front.

I don't really get how the touch pad is going to work. It's like Sony didn't know whether to make a PS-vita esque touchscreen or not, so they sort of compromised half way. But there's not enough space there to use it for anything other than sliding gestures or for simply tapping it.

I remember when people were complaining that the Wii U wasn't "next gen" enough. Looking at the state of "next gen", it's safe to say the Wii U isn't as far behind as the Wii was.

Also, why does anyone need to play PS3/4 games on the Vita? I understand it's for on-the-go business, but a handheld works best when it's not trying to be a console. Like, you wouldn't want to play a PS3 game on the bus or something.

It didn't blow my mind away, but it seems cool. I'm not going to buy it or anything, but I wasn't ever going to in the first place.

Off the TV Play, same as the Wii U. When you want to play something but can't because someone else is using the TV. Some PS3 games can already do it like the Ico Collection, but I for one am grateful that every PS4 game can do it.

Uh, they're on the Playstation Store.

I think he meant new games. You can play the older Spyro/Crash games on older systems, so buying a PS3 to rebuy games you already have is a waste of money.
