Plants vs. Zombies 2: It's About Time ( Update: The Future has arrived!)

Re: Plants vs. Zombies 2: It's About Time

Soon as I saw it was free I just though "fuck, everything cool will be behind a paywall", there's actually a good deal of free content. That said, the fucking Ice Shooter, along other classic plants, ARE behind a paywall, so fuck you EA.

Re: Plants vs. Zombies 2: It's About Time

Just downloaded the game... While it sucks that you have to pay for a lot of the plants... probably more then you would use to actually BY the game were it no "free-to-play"... But really, this game DOES seem like you don't really need those items. Sure, they'll definitely make things easier, but there are a bunch of other tactics to help you out this time around, such as the Plant Food and those 3 power-ups, which cost in-game money, and not actual money.

Speaking of those power-ups, I'm not a fan of pinching the screen; I use a stylus with my iPad, as I would prefer not to dirty the screen with my fingers. Other than that, I think it's a nice new addition... though it makes me wonder if, because it requires the touch screen to be used in such a way, if it'll ever be released on another other than iOS devices.

Same here, but I'm only in the process of downloading it. Haven't played it yet. I didn't know it existed until I saw a commerical for it on the Sims Freeplay.

Hmmm?
Admittedly some of the paid plants are good, but most of the good plants are obtained by normal gameplay anyways.
I still would rather have paid 1-5$ one time for the full game, and let me unlock the plants with my own skills in the game instead of my RL money-making skills.

Re: Plants vs. Zombies 2: It's About Time

EA told Popcap to put all of this overpriced crap in this game.

Want a new plant, PAY ME, want an extra seed slot, PAY ME, want to start a level with more sun, PAY ME.

EA are going off the limits with greed. I'm still going to get this and maybe spend a bit of money on it on some seed slots or plants.

So, you're just assuming EA is the sole reason for this, with no proof at all? Sure, it's an easy target, but you could buy coins in the original with real money, and you really needed to, because the minigame packages cost an obscene amount of coins.

And you're complaining about it, but you're still going to pay money for it? Isn't that hypocritical?

To be honest, when I first started, I hated the game, but now I actually like a lot of it. The only thing I don't like is the mission objectives. They just get way too difficult. Also, the bonus gate levels are also way too difficult. The first world wasn't too hard, but the stars are a LOT harder to get in World 2.

Re: Plants vs. Zombies 2: It's About Time

From what I can tell, you'll only need to pay if you're terrible at the game. But I'll have to wait 'til this is released on Android to see for myself.

Thing is, I never bought coins in the original game, since you can get them easily if you grind for them, which isn't that hard to do, because the game's awesome and addicting. The Zen Garden also sped things along quickly. With this game, you LITERALLY have no choice to pay up if you want certain plants or upgrades.

Like I said, though, you don't NEED them to beat the game, but they certainly help and make things easier.

Re: Plants vs. Zombies 2: It's About Time

Like I said, I've gotten used to it. The only plant I really want is the Squash, and you can get the Cherry Bomb in world 2, anyway. The newer plants make some of the old ones unnecessary.

Wild West-Day 1-Star 3

I sure as hell can prevent zombies from trampling the flowers, but how do I kill 8 zombies in 5 seconds?
Not there yet, but what I have played, you probably need to use one of those power ups.

I think you should wait until the final wave then use plant food on a Cabbage plant.

Re: Plants vs. Zombies 2: It's About Time

Question for anyone who has the game: I can't manage to get the first star for day 6 in the Wild West, which is to kill 75 zombies in 25 seconds. Any suggestions?

From what I remember, you have to use Lightning Reeds to destroy the Zombie Chickens, as they take the majority of the zombies you will kill in that mission, and compliment them with stuff like Melon-pult's Plant Food upgrade and Cherry Bombs.
I knew the thing about the Lightning Reeds, but for some reasons, I couldn't managed to kill enough zombies quick enough. I'll try using melon-pult's Plant Food upgrade, though.

Re: Plants vs. Zombies 2: It's About Time

I saw this game on app store but didn't get it because of user reviews that is angry with EA's greed and IAPs (In App Purchases)

Re: Plants vs. Zombies 2: It's About Time

its more like plants vs dlc
god damn how many are there

I don't know when, but sometime they made the amount of sun you get from a single sun icon 50 instead of 25. I have no idea why. Why mess up the basic mechanics that clearly work?

Also, Zen Garden absolutely sucks. Of course, I was expecting it to be like this, but 1. They BARELY give you any gems without paying for it and 2. The rewards suck. Zen Garden is supposed to be a way to get more coins, but coins are barely used in PvZ2, anyway. You can also get a boost for certain plants in one level, but what happens if you get it for something like the Spring Bean (like I did)?

Spring Bean Plant Food is actually a lot more effective now with the addition of Blover. You can either use it the face-value way and just push all zombies back a little; use it in Pirate Seas to destroy things that aren't called Seagull Zombie, Zombie Parrot, or Imp Cannon; or use it in any world and activate Blover at the correct moment to kill any zombie with it. Or if you just really don't want it, you can always shovel the Spring Bean or waste it on a level.

And I believe the sun icon value was changed because the game was made different in the update that added Gargantuars. Plants recharge faster and sun is worth more, but a lot more zombies spawn. I've heard mixed opinions about that gameplay change and prefer to reserve mine to myself.
