So for those of your curious about Solid Snake's status in the new Super Smash Bros.:

Oh? So Kojima doesn't know? Considering Kojima was the one who wanted Snake in Super Smash Bros. to begin with (and since SEGA representitives were all "hush-hush" about Sonic's inclusion), I think this might be a sign that he's not returning... Which one the one hand, would be a shame, but on the other hand, I won't miss him terribly. Didn't really use him that much, and despite being personally requested by Hideo Kojima himself, I never didn't think he "fit in" with the Super Smash Bros. crowd... Plus, I have a policy of thinking only one character from one company (no other Sega characters, no other Capcom characters), and if Snake doesn't return, I feel like this increases the chances of Simon Belmont (who I'd much rather prefer to see playable in this series).
Also, excuse me while I go on a mini-rant for a moment...
WHAT THE FLIPPING GIZARD?! Why the Hell wasn't Yoshi revealed today? I mean, I know he's coming back, but why didn't they do it today when Yoshi's New Island was released?! At first I thought "well, technically, today is the release date in North America and Europe, so maybe it'll go by the Japanese release date." Yeah, Diddy Kong was revealed on Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze's NA and Europe release date, but that's the exception, all other character reveals correspond to the Japanese release date of games... Then I realized that Yoshi's New Island doesn't HAVE a release date in Japan yet! So I figured "Oh, well then maybe Yoshi will be revealed on the release date of Yarn Yoshi." THEN I released that Yarn Yoshi doesn't HAVE a release date yet, Japan or otherwise! So what the Hell, this was the perfect opportunity to reveal him! Now when they eventually do reveal him, people will go "HOORAY, YOSHI'S BACK!" or "It's about time!", they will go "WHY DIDN'T THEY REVEAL HIM SOONER!" I seriously can't think of a better opportunity to reveal him...
Unless they do it in a Nintendo Direct this month, which honestly feels like wasted potential. I feel like that sort of thing is better fitted for newcomers, to show off their character trailers. ...Maybe there will be a newcomer from the Yoshi series, and Yoshi will be revealed along with a newcomer? That's the only way I can imagine they'd skip over something like this...

My Brother was a Snake Main in Brawl.

The game's release dates don't flat out guarantee that the protagonist will be revealed for Smash that day.
In the case of Olimar, they did that because the official site doesn't update on weekends, so the revealed Olimar beforehand. don't really see why you think the fact that the japanese release date isn't final means that yoshi can't be revealed on whenever that is
What I'm trying to get at is that this is the perfect opportunity to reveal Yoshi... not to mention, they have so many things to supposedly "reveal" for this game, I don't see why they can't get the obvious out of the way first.Hotaru Tomoe said:
It would help if I knew the Japanese release date, of it Nintendo had a set release date for that game in Japan, but as far as I can tell, they haven't announced anything yet... other then I THINK it's going to be released in the summer... which feels like a pretty long ways off, not to mention it'll be almost an entire year after the game's debut trailer.

what if they haven't finished implementing yoshi into the game? i mean, yeah, sure he's a shoe-in to return, but what if they haven't finished putting him in the game yet? they can hardly show him if they haven't done that yet

That would be nice. Though again, it leaves me to wonder what's going down with this. I mean, the game's supposedly going to be released later this year, they SHOULD have all the character models finished by this point, and what's left is fine-tuning the details. Again, I don't know, I'm not a game designer myself, but it still seems like a real missed opportunity all the same.Baby Luigi said:

I honestly don't know why people are complaining about Yoshi. You know he's going to be in the game anyway.
As a YOshi main in Brawl, It would be even MORE reason not to get this game if Yoshi had Baby Mario with him.
