Also pfft, everyone's saying Smash Run's the best mode for getting customs. I don't like the mode (*cough*Ornes*cough*) nearly as much as I originally did so it'll be a pain, but I'll work with it. That said though, I generally slap on Attack considering the character's rougher edges will be fixed from defeating enough enemies, so it doesn't really matter past the first few minutes especially when you're wrecking everything that breathes.

Yeah, I know running into an Orne can be scary but while I have been caught off guard (There was a time I was looking away from the screen for just a second or two and I look back and see an Orne had just killed me >.<). They're easy enough to avoid as long as you're fast. (I still come across them more so in the Normal difficulty of the Survive challenges you find in a door then on the actual Map)

Speaking of which, I don't think Smash Run just needs added attack power. Speed is also very important. For most characters I gave them a Rare Agility and a Rare Brawn Badge. But for characters that are slow and powerful to begin with (Ex: Ganondorf). I did a pure Running custom of the character. It makes you less powerful but I do really think Speed is essential for Smash Run for a few reasons. Like being able to collect the stuff you want to collect, getting to the chests faster, getting to the special bonus events that you wanna do faster. And also winning the "Run!" game that can come up as the final battle.

Though it also helps to have those Powers. I equipped every character with Health recoveries, Super Armor, and/or Brief Invincibilities.

GOLDEN HAMMERS (unless you're like me and refuse to use)

It's not even that they're hard to avoid, it's just they terrify me in every sense. I can't even look at their apparent rarity the same way after encountering three in one run, which was what dulled my liking for the mode.

Anyway, by "generally slap on Attack", I actually mean two Attack parts and one Speed part (unless I'm using someone like Ganon, who gets two Speed parts), which hasn't seemed to fail me thus far. Usually the bonuses from these outweigh what is taken away and I'm left with a net stat profit for everything but Defence.

But oh yes, I always make a custom set for my characters in Smash Run because those powers (particularly the healing ones) basically keep you alive for the entirety of your run unless you get Orned or one of the challenge doors mess you up. I tend to set up the Health Recoveries + Reflector / Healing Shield (of varying levels depending on the character), I never get knocked out.

What makes you not like smash run.

Just think about the glorious rewards in the second and third panels while you're doing them, I guess.

If you can suck it up and endure, you'll probably get what you need after 2-4 runs.

Which one is it, anyway?
10 custom powers or whatever

Just collect those bags with the question mark on them. You'll probably get that challenge in at least two or three Smash Runs. (I would say it's possible to do it in just one. But it's not exactly easy to get a full 10 of the same item in one Smash Run. I don't think I ever got just 10 Custom Item stuff in a single run.

Here's a refresher on what they look like.

Slap on appropriate custom parts (like attack ones for fast characters, speed ones for slow characters) for the character you use, and it shouldn't be too long to do.

You'll know as soon as you use them.

When you're making a set-up for them, choose the practice option in the top right of the screen to get a feel for them.

Characters like Sonic are obviously fast, Ganon hits very hard but is rather slow, Peach doesn't really hit that hard, Mario is kinda all-around, you'll just know.

Star, I hope you're really frugal with your hammers for the second and third challenge boards because there's a lot worse things than grinding for 10 powers in Smash Run.

Like grinding for 25 powers in Smash Run. :dk:

Though he's definitely right about that, there's far worse challenges (especially on that third panel).

I understand that now, for 2 of my hammers I did them on random things because I thought I would get more. I got one more, but then my brother played and used it on the easiest challenge ever (trying out home run contest for the first time, which I was going to do after he was done). I have no more, apparently you only get three.

Also, I would have more powers if I didn't die so often. I hate all the enemies :(

The only challenges I have left to do is getting all the moves, mii outfits, and mii headgear and the Smash for 50 hours total.

I'm almost done with all the moves. I have all the outfits, though I'm not entirely sure I have all the headgear yet. I'm actually wondering if just like with Custom Moves being more likely to be gotten with that character. Going through Smash Run with the Mii Fighter makes it more likely you'll get Mii stuff.

So I encountered an Orne when I was Smash Running with Toon Link; it freaked me out and I paused while flung through the air. I turned the 3DS away, unpaused and pressed A, apparently I was in a cannon and somehow got away from that monster. Definitely taking this, that was most certainly a victory.

EDIT: Also, I just realized I should pack the Warp power, so if I encounter another one I can just tap that and get away without a problem.

I've had twelve of them (one is the five hits from panel two) left for ages now. Two are the Classic/All-Stars all-character challenges, one is the Smash Run victories with all characters, two more are the ones you've mentioned, and I forget the rest.

All I'm getting are LVL2-LVL4 versions of each power... Weird.

It doesn't matter which level it is, as long as it's a new power (aka one you don't already have other levels of).

btw there's a collect all smash run powers challenge on the third panel

that's why i'm saving my golden hammers lel

I have 19 individual unique powers, but I haven't completed the challenge.
