King Bowser
Which types would they have? Don't create any new types, just make them have one (or two) of the already existing types. You can add ANY existing character from ANY Mario game.

I say Yoshi would be Dragon, and Bowser would be Dragon/Fire. I can think of many more, but I want to leave you some to name. Then, we'll create a Pokédex (?).

I always imagined Bowser as fire/ground or rock. Apart from his ability to breathe fire, he's seems to be more of a dinosaur than a dragon.

Waluigi: Fighting/Dark
Luigi: Normal possibly with either flying or electric mixed in.
Mario: Normal/Fighting
Daisy: Fighting/Grass
Peach: Psychic/Normal
DK: Fighting

Boo: Ghost (does it really need explaination?).
King Boo: Ghost/Dark (same as Boo, possibly an Evolution?).
Bob-Omb: Electric/Steel (in the end, they aren't actually alive).
Toad: Normal (different types, depending on colour).
Bowser: Fire/Ground (Fire is obvious, Ground because he reminds me to Groudon).
Bowser Jr.: Fire (probably the pre-evolution of Bowser?).
Koopa Troopa: Water (no explaination needed).
Koopatrol: ??? (what the hell is this?).
Magikoopa: Psychic (sorry, not evil enough for Dark).
Whomp: Rock (no words, just fact).
Thwomp: Rock (same as Whomp).
Goomba: Normal (what?! Do I have to explain everything?!).
 
Baby Luigi: Dragon/Steel
 
Dang, I've did this before. I've spoofed this more than a couple of times, but I have to find those papers I doodled on. I even made sprites.

Why would Peach be Grass? And also, why do some people list Koopa Troopa as a Water-type? We've never seen a Koopa Troopa actually swimming, just their shells :| I'm curious about this.

Because of his special shot in Mario Power Tennis.
 
Besides, the blue shell power-up in New Super Mario Bros. makes you faster underwater.
 
Mario : fire fighting (could be all the types really, but I'l stick with his fireflower)

Luigi : electric fighting (technology stuff from e.gadd)

Peach : psychic flying (her dress hovering ability + those magic heart abilities)

Daisy : grass (her..flower abilities)

Wario : steel fighting (obvious)

Waluigi : dark (because why not)

Bowser: dragon

Yoshi : normal (kinda like a likitung and a chansey mixed together)
