therefore he kicks ass too

not really, metal sonic looks completely different from sonic(and has had several different designs), metal mario is just a chrome version of mario, which is essentially some recolor.

Metal Mario still kicks ass.

plus during early stages of metal sonic's life, he has been a recolour of sonic

I know that our game designing technology is a bit better, but give him time, and we'll have an awesome looking better version of mario

Here's the difference: Metal Mario is a power-up of Mario. Metal Sonic isn't. Metal Mario isn't supposed to be his own character. He wasn't intended for that. Metal Sonic however was.

i agree its a good powerup but he's not really a character and i think thats why some people dont like him.

Then again there are plenty of generics in the spin-offs so i guess thats not saying much.

Personally i dont care for it much, but i can easily avoid that by just not using him.

though honey queen feels a bit wasted.

There is a good solid point for Metal Sonic to exist because he has a backstory and didn't come from a form. Metal Mario is just lazy and yet 10 year olds love him.

That's because Metal Mario as a power-up is pretty cool.

But as a separate character? Ugh.

Other: Funky Kong. His addition in Mario Kart Wii with his speed stat made the game so broken it's not even funny.

Or are we talking about MK7? If so, then I guess Metal Mario.

It's just online, where people thought his negligible speed boost is actually something worth frothing about. I understand in Time Trials where a millisecond could make a difference but Grand Prix, that minor speed boost is of little consequence.

The same applies to Metal Mario's middleweight hit box BTW

Metal Mario is not even abused online, if I remember Miis are the most common thing I saw online.

Yeah but stories tell me that Metal Mario had been abused online. I remember the Maka Wuhu glitchers usually used him.

Those poor ears! Those little poor ears of those that play online! :(

Metal Mario. at least Queen Bee was an original character. Metal Mario is just a stupid recolor of Mario (which I already don't like.)

I don't like neither of them, but I think Metal Mario's addition was worse than Honey Queen's. At least she is her own character, Metal Mario is just a powerup.

I agree with this, and besides, Honey Queen is the first heavyweight female racer, so she is perfectly valid.

Wasn't Rosalina a heavyweight in Mario Kart Wii?

I wouldn't consider her a heavyweight, since that game uses a system that is more based on size than weight; like, she is too tall to fit on a medium-sized kart.

In the next game, I see no reason Nintendo ditches the cruiserweight, so it's likely Rosalina will be cruiserweight. Meanwhile, H. Queen is put in with the female heavyweight in mind, and I think it's a great idea, considering how little female heavyweights are viable for racing.

So, yes, I can see H. Queen returning.

Personally, I liked the addition of both of them.

From a normal perspective though, Metal Mario was the worse addition for reasons everybody has probably stated in this thread already.
