They weren't any more or less boring than some of the average drones they've used in the spin-offs as of late.

^This. Geno, along with all the other fan-favorite RPG characters, need to be considered in spin-offs because they would please fans much more than flops like Honey Queen. If this means giving/selling Geno to Nintendo, then I'm all for it.
 
Honey Queen is awesome. Don't diss that sexy bee. And Koopa Troopa is more of a "drone" if you ask me.
 
Well, everyone's entitled to their own opinion. I myself am not a fan of generics either, and would gladly replace Koopa Troopa with Kooper or Koops, but Koopa Troopa has the excuse of being in the original, thus making him a classic. One thing they did right was add King Boo and Petey Piranha instead of Boo and Piranha Plant. But if they added a generic Goomba instead of Goombario or Goombella, or even Goomboss, then I'd facepalm. I support Geno's inclusion in spinoffs, however, because he is a fan-favorite and would please many fans. Although I haven't played SMRPG and thus would prefer Fawful or Dimentio, I would be happy with any RPG character (within reason, don't go adding a generic Spania please)

To clarify, I was thinking about Mario Kart when I made this post. But yeah, the Baseball games have such huge rosters that tons of generics seem a bit more acceptable, although they should still add one of the above-mentioned Goombas in the next one.

First, Koopa Troopa didn't appear in some Mario Kart games, including Mario Kart 64, Mario Kart Super Circuit (but it doesn't really count), and Mario Kart DS. I used to like Koopa Troopa, and missed its inclusion in Mario Kart DS, but nowadays, it's just a bland character that seems to serve as filler. Koopa Troopa did appear in the first game, but characters such as Daisy, I feel, are more likely to appear than Koopa.

As I like to happily remind you, Goomboss did appear in Super Mario 64 DS and later in Mario Kart DS as a boss. You should be happy about that.

I would like to see him again he is pretty cool. I'd rather see characters like Fawful and Bobbery though.

I half agree with you.People should get over Geno but I see many characters who are already better than Geno in my opinion.
 
I really fucking hate how people act like rpg characters are some kind of fucking oppressed individuals or some shit like that. They aren't the only characters who barely appear in anything you know.

I like Geno and all, but I don't think he should be in Smash.

He's the cliché Mysterious Cool Guy, he has no development and preciously little characterisation, and a butt-ugly design. The only good thing about Geno is his usefulness in battle. I can understand why he'd be popular after SMRPG's release, but that he still has a rabbid fanbase nearly 20 years after his one relevant role genuinely escapes me.
