NINTENDO NEWS THREAD

It's basically Mario Hoops 3-on-3 with Dodgeball, Volleyball, and Hockey as additional modes, all which are surprisingly deep for an unfocused game.

eh sounds promissing but ill probably never get it anyway

I really hope there's a sequel to Strikers

also here now we can contain all Direct hype in the Direct thread instead of this thread

e: on second thought I feel really stupid for doing that

This may seem odd, but I really don't want DS games on Virtual Console. I mean, I spent $20-$40 for each game, and I have gotten quite a few, and the 3DS can even play regular DS games. So I propose this. Instead of making people pay for games that aren't obsolete yet, why not make a function/accessory like the Super Gameboy and the Gameboy Player? Games like SSB4 have proven to be able to connect to the 3DS, and even the Wii could connect to DS's in Animal Crossing and stuff like that. I think that being able to play DS games on my TV with the game I already have would be more efficient than paying for it again for no reason.

Meh I don't know what will happen next?

id prefer if they did stop

most of the time its just games that 90% of the world has already played

kind of a pity they didnt use their resources to bring unlocalized games into other countries via vc, but oh well.

Well, do you support remakes, though? Stuff like Super Mario Bros. 3, I can't really play if it weren't for remakes and emulators. I was a late N64-era person, being born in 1995.

yeah but these are just ports, remakes are one thing, but ports are just so meager

i guess i can understand if someone wants to play for first time or something, but why cant they bring over games that never really got any recognition?

rare games, unlocalized, i mean there is so much potential for the vc but its like its just flat out abandoned in most cases.

Although i do appreciate the 3ds vc having shantae, but thats it really.

True, they could've gone with that but nooo it's like they want their rare games to never be heard of again, despite their potential quality (and that some have cult followings, just imagine if they satisfy those people).

this is extremely misleading

GAF says the trademark they abandoned had nothing to do with video game software sales, just merchandise

so if you were expecting virtual console napkins then I'm sorry for your loss, but Virtual Console games aren't going anywhere

I hope they keep the Virtual Console. The alternative is selling pieces of plastic made to look like an NES or a Super NES and preinstall 50 games.

I was born in '99, therefore had no knowledge of the SNES or even N64. However, my mom had an NES when she was a kid, and still is in our house today. Of course now I have both an SNES and N64 because I wanted them as a part of my collection, but still.

I think that I would like the Virtual Console system to continue because I can't always get games for old consoles anymore. However, I wish things like Club Nintendo would ask people what games they would like to see as rewards because I don't like to pay real money for it. For instance I have Super Metroid and don't want to pay for it on VC, but if it's on Club Nintendo, then I could get it for free (I have a large supply of coins)

So this guy on reddit did some detective work

http://www.reddit.com/r/wiiu/comments/2s6l0c/nintendo_abandons_virtual_console_trademark/

If it's accurate then they only abandoned the ability to sell virtual console merchandise like VC clocks or dumb shit like that. Which they never did anyway I don't think.

doesn't this technically mean they can't sell the download codes in stores like gamestop or whatever anymore? or does games refer to digital and 'physical'?
