What is the best game of all time?

For me, Spyro 2: Ripto's Rage. Seriously, this game is perfect. Seriously it's such a shame that this got outshined by Super Mario 64 since the original Spyro games are FAR superior. Like, FAR. I'd rant about it, but this is a Mario forum, so.....

I can't choose between these four, so I choose four:
Earthbound, PM: TTYD, PMD2, and Okami.

But I like Earthbound slightly more than the others.

I've played Skyward Sword and OoT, and so far I have to say Wind Waker is my least favorite.

Anyway, obviously Portal and Portal 2 are pure perfection, but TTYD is also really good, along with Super Mario Galaxy.
 
it's a weird concept, having to choose an absolute best. i can choose favorites, but the games are radically different from one another and some achieve things the others dont.
 
While I do agree with Jorge, I have to say that there is one game that has accomplished splendidly just about every single aspect that I want out of a game, so I really have no choice but to say that it is indeed the best game I have ever played. The game has beautiful graphics that I can't say I've ever seen to be surpassed even by games in the many following years which have had access to much greater rendering technology, intense and highly involved gameplay that still doesn't feel heavy or unintuitive in any way, and a AAA soundtrack that neither bashfully blends into the background noise to allow the glory to be taken by the other aspects of the game nor loudly overexerts itself and distracts from the gameplay- but rather compliments the rest of the game perfectly, maintaining a very balanced and fun game.

Of course, I'm talking about the all-time classic, Diddy Kong Jr. Math. :dk:

Tie between Dragon Age: Origins and Mass Effect 2.
 
I'm guessing my answer would be Metal Gear Solid (the first one), seeing as it is the game I've played (and enjoyed) the most and while I could obviously find flaws with it, I just choose to ignore them because in my mind it is just that good.

im probably being an asshole but i do want to hear some justification over this

im a fan of the call of duty series because they're mindless fun, but I will not defend the games' quality. they're pretty bad. and modern warfare 3 is the absolute worst in the entire series.
 
At this point it's probably a tie between Super Smash Bros. Brawl and Super Smash Bros. Melee.

Honorable mentions include Banjo-Tooie, LittleBigPlanet, and Rock Band.
 
MLBIS by far. People treat it like scum compared to TTYD but I think it's better. So sue me.
 
I really can't say what my favorite game is, since there is so many different aspect that goes into each game.

I mean, for Zelda...

Majora's Mask - Best in terms of nostalgia and originality.
Wind Waker - For the exploration and witty scenes.
Twilight Princess - For the best characters and great plot.
Skyward Sword - For the amazing plot and good gameplay.

But I can't say which one is my favorite from there.

Pikmin 3 is my favorite Pikmin hands down, because Pikmin 1 was very depressing and rather broken, and Pikmin 2 felt like some of the things in it were just too op, and I felt that Pikmin 3 was the most balanced, and had the best exploration and game mechanics, please the best plot and interesting characters.

For Mario, I cannot decide, but I will say this:

SM Platformer - NSMBU, since I felt it was the best NSMB.
SM 3D - Super Mario Galaxy; Felt the most original.
M&L - Either BiS or DT. I'll make that decision after I finish DT.
MK - Mario Kart Wii; I felt it was really good and had the best characters in that game.
MP - Mario Party 7; I just loved the theme and I really enjoyed the mini-games.
LM - Probably going with Luigi's Mansion 1, since I felt more enjoyment.
DK - Donkey Kong 64, because it was just so original and awesome.
Yoshi - Yoshi's Island DS for me; I loved the gameplay and the challenge.
Wario - I never really played any Wario games...

For Smash Bros, obviously Brawl, since I felt like it was just...excellent.
