I suppose it comes from what your definition of "good" is, at least in this context. Is a good war one that resulted in little to no casualties? Is it one that ended with a triumph against an objectively evil force? Is it one that can be rembered fondly in the history books? Or, perhaps, is a good war one that never happened?

We have wars because sometimes, humanity can't come to an agreement with each other. Of course, sometimes it's because there are too many emus or because we wanted a bucket, but nevertheless.

I think "necessary" is a much more suitable and less risky word here than "good".
