I think 3rd party guest idea doesn't work all the time since most games actually don't do that (eg, Mario in SEGA AS Racing).Northern Verve said:But that's exactly why Sonic should keep going in SSB. If they're sharing the licenses to use eachother's characters. Sonic may as well be an on-again, off-again Nintendo owned character when Nintendo really needs him.
When it comes to spinoffs, the major concern is half of the roster seats are taken, and they have to take the risk that fans who only love one series are not happy about it. After all it's not something like Camcom v.s. Marvel which is a pure fighting game.
Not sure if we'd ever get a crossover platformer between the two as much as it might be awesome.
But anyway, I consider. Or at least I hope it's the case, that Sakurai doesn't follow the fighting game rules of 3rd parties must be for one-game exclusives. Like how Link or Star Wars characters ended up in Soul Caliber. Perhaps Snake will be gone because Sakurai's friend is content with him being in Brawl. But they should keep Sonic simply because he was arguably the most requested newcomer in SSB Franchise history. (Even if someone was more requested then him at one point, you have the fact that his inclusion was a reason Brawl had to be delayed a little bit. The demand had to have been huge in order to do that)
