This thread is about the anti-smoking campaign "truth". How do you feel about them and other anti-smoking campaigns?

I've never heard of it...but...

I used to be so against people smoking/doing drugs/blah blah blah.

But now I don't care if they do. All's I hope is they get what they deserve and die from it. Or develop some mental conditions which'll further destroy their life.

I'm such a demon.

I've got to agree with Unknown here, smoking is someone's choice, if they do it and die then they do it and die.

Whilst I'd prefer it for people to not needlessly die, I doubt campaigns are going to make everyone quit.

You shouldn't wish death among other people. After all, back then, no one knew the dangers of smoking and it is often prompted by peer pressure, something that it was hard to overcome. And once you get addicted to nicotine, it's REALLY hard to get off. Just ask my parents....

I have a dad who smokes, and I really can't stand it and he tried quitting more than once. Also, my mom used to be an alchohol addict (thank god she's not anymore), but both are very nice people who don't deserve death.

I'm really not as blind to myself as many people would think.(which has been the case many a time)

I know the consequences of what I say or do but I do it anyway because that's how I feel.

Stop placing blame on the smokers and start wishing death on the corporations that continue this slow-motion suicide. </emotional>

I do hate those people who are willingly selling something that they know can kill

Not willingly. That sounds way too gentle. They advertise, they lobby, and they basically block efforts to remove these filthy sticks.

The corps. don't care to stop it(or the lives that have succumbed to drugs). It brings them money. Money makes the world go round.

I do wish this stuff would stop but it won't happen because too many people in this world love doing it. If said people know the consequences of doing whatever drug, be my guest. Previously said; IDC if they do.

Also, I wasn't blaming them. I was mocking them.

Actually polls suggest that most people want to quit, they don't love doing it:

Prolly 'cause they realized it was a stupid idea.

It is but I wouldn't be blaming the victim because most of the time it isn't their fault but peer pressure or advertising and such

And it isn't until recently we found the dangers of smoking and the hazardous chemicals it contains

im sure the people who smoke/do drugs due to peer pressure and have their lives ruined by it to the point where recovery is near-impossible appreciate your anonymous sentiment

Well, I don't have a soul and I'll wish the death of those people all I want.
Now I'm convinced he's just acting here, come on, stop being so edgy, you're scaring the children.

How are you piercing this much into me? It WAS a cloak of some sort because I was getting a bit angry and "defensive".

I'm sorry papa...

I feel sorry for people who are into smoking/drugs, they know it'll guarantee death but they just can't stop.

I know how addiction feels though; although I'm not into drugs or anything, I am somewhat addicted to the internet and probably would go out of whack if pulled away. (In fact, I'm actually procrastinating at the moment by going on this forum)

Addiction to drugs is much more of a serious and complex issue than being addicted Internet and I don't think it should be compared.

Addiction to nicotine not only has psychological effects but biological effects as well. The internet doesn't produce dopamine and serotonin in the same way being addicted to drugs does.

Don't confuse Internet addiction with real addiction. I don't think it's right to use "addiction" as an umbrella term for general things that you intensely enjoy.

Basically what my sister said.

it's not an umbrella term

it's a term for something that you can't stop doing no matter how hard you try

everyone has to keep in mind that nicotine has different effects on each person

some people can easily drop the habit, while others are more physically and psychologically addicted
