BUT, somebody replies to my response by mindlessly throwing terms around as if the person is mocking me, so what do I do? I show my disapproval by throwing terms around, too.

Ooooooooooooh. So, I was right.

Well. The thing is...I actually do have OCD. But how do you know? You don't. But the matter of the fact is I was diagnosed with it along with ADHD and tourettes as well as depression.

So, no. I wasn't just "throwing around terms like nothing".

OK, wow, some of you guys are fucked up wishing that smokers would hurry up and die already.

You aren't some mysterious brooding outsider.

It doesn't make you look like the angsty tortured soul you wank to while you read fan fiction.

It makes you look like a prick, a dumbass, and frankly makes most of the people who have to filter through your stupid text want to punch you right in the face. Especially those affected by addiction or with relatives affected by addiction.

So crawl back into your little hole somewhere and be misunderstood be society anywhere else but here.

Addiction isn't just about peer pressure and marketting, tho. It can be hereditary or a mental illness in its own right, which tends to be ignored too often in favour of "they just want to do it because everyone else is doing it!"

Even if you don't have an unfortunate pre-disposition towards addiction, once you've been smoking long enough, it not only becomes a physiological and psychological crutch, it also just becomes a normal day-to-day occurrence. "Time to take my 10 minute break; I'll have a snack, text my lover, have a smoke...", for instance. And if everyone else around you is indulging the thing you're trying to quit, well uhh... it's a bit hard to stop unless you're all in it together.
I agree with this too. My mother used to be smoking and drinking before I was born (not when she's pregnant; she quit way before that), but she stopped while my father is still a smoker, even though he's trying to stop. Still, nicotine is addictive, and it's best to never try it. Smoking has no positive consequences to your body so even if you are less sensitive to addiction than normal, it's best to never take that first step.

Peer pressure goes both ways; it also helps quit smoking. If all your friends stop smoking, you'll be likely to stop smoking. Same goes for having friends that never smoke in the first place.

Fortunately for us, smoking carries a negative image in public, with people staring at you and no-smoking areas. When people smoke in films, it's often that the person is in an unstable mood at the moment, which makes smoking akin to drinking in that sense.
