My stance on the New Super Mario Bros. games

No I'm not eating that

Also it had some pretty awesome minigames. I played the shit out of the poker minigame.
I actually got a trivia question right because of that minigame

Guess what? Just recently, I played Super Mario World, trying to give it a second chance. However, it failed to redeem itself for me. Again, the outdated physics for jumping, running and the like give a loss of precision for me which doesn't help with the game's difficulty. However, that's not the only problem nor is it the main problem.

One of the main problems is that, the toad houses are not present in the game. This means that if you are having trouble with an area in a level, you can't go to a toad house to grab an item to help you. Not only that, there is no inventory for items, which is about the same.

Now this wouldn't be a big deal is those two weren't already introduced in Super Mario Bros. 3. Not only that, they are in all of the New Super Mario Bros. games. In fact, I would rather play any of the new Super Mario Bros. games instead of the retro mario games.

This is nothing but evidence that, the New Super Mario Bros. games have influenced me to not like the retro mario games. Just look at what I have to say about the retro mario games I have played so far.

Super Mario Bros. 2

Gameplay is different, the level design is okay at least. I can get used to the physics and I like the idea of having multiple characters to play as. However, the game is too long considering it's difficulty and the fact that you have to start all over again if you get a game over. Sure, you can use level skips, but those are secrets. Not only that, people nowadays like to play games all the way to the end. Using level skips to bypass large portions of a game is almost like the Super Guide, but worse. Also, the game doesn't really wow me, and I never feel any motivation to beat the game even after leaving and coming back to this game. Not only that, I never feel motivated to come back to this game

Super Mario Bros. 2 (Lost Levels)
First off, the physics and controls are very primitive and stiff and it doesn't help with this game's intense difficulty. And from knowing this, I know I definitely won't like Super Mario Bros., even though it is easier.

Donkey Kong

I know this isn't a SMB game, but its jumping physics and movement are absolutely stiff. However, for some reason, I sort of like this game anyway but the problems do take some of the enjoyment from the game for me.

Mario Bros.
The jumping physics and movement are a bit stiff but I got used to it. In fact, I actually find this game to be very fun.

Well, there's that secret level that functions and supersedes any Toad Houses in the overworld. It's right above the Ghost House near Vanilla Dome.

Of course the jumping is stiff. This is the result of poor ageing, so don't feel too bad that the game didn't live up to your standards. New Super Mario Bros. may have spoiled your experience on older Mario games, but take me; Rayman Origins Legends have spoiled my views on Mario games, including New Super Mario Bros. Kirby didn't help either.

That's exactly what I said in the post, silly nilly. :fancy:

I hate it when Mario fans say I suck just because I don't like a certain Mario game, level and/or I have trouble with it.

This is just like when I complained about Champions Road from Super Mario 3D World. The fans got all on me, saying that I lack skill.

A PERSON DOESN'T LACK FREAKING SKILL JUST BECAUSE THEY DON'T LIKE A LEVEL/GAME THAT EVERYONE ELSE LIKE AND/OR HAS TROUBLE WITH IT!!!

I agree.

I beat Champion's Road twice and I considered myself pretty skilled when it comes to platformers, since I played a fair share of them. I still hate Champion's Road to this day. It's just not fun. Or, actually, I don't find it fun. My mistake.

End of story.

No i'm saying you suck because you're having trouble beating probably the easiest mario platformer in existence.

Champion's Road is like a major difficulty spike in the game though

I wasn't talking about that I was talking about Super Mario World :P

Getting all dragon coins is hard though...same with Tubular (though I admit, Tubular at least is a short level and easy if you know the patterns)

I need it because I'm a completionist

After New Super Mario Bros. Wii, the sequels had started to turn stale, especially in the case of Bowser's Castle. Being the last main story castle, you'd expect Bowser's Castle to be rather long, but I guess you also need to take into account the length of the Bowser battle.

Yeah, and New Super Mario Bros. Wii was exciting for its time because it's only the second game AND it's the first Mario platformer to support simultaneous multiplayer, especially after repeated failed attempts. I say it's an accomplishment.

Then, when we get so much New Super Mario Bros. games in a few years, it gets stale and it negatively impacts our view on New Super Mario Bros. Wii and DS.

First off, that's only your opinion. Second, just because you find something easy does not mean that everyone should or else they suck at the game or mario games in general. Finally, it is not nice to say to anyone that they suck at anything.

Kirby sucks at things though

I think you should practice more. Super Mario World isn't terribly difficult. I've seen harder platformers.

But then again, I play the Super Mario Advance 2 version of it. Still, there isn't much difference.

Don't take Shoey seriously man.

NSMB was also my first SMB. I might talk about why I loved it when I get back tomorrow.

Yeah, I don't find the game in general to be difficult. However, the game has slightly aged physics and I feel a loss of precision platforming overall. However, I get that since of precision from the NSMB games.

I played through Super Mario Advance 2 after New Super Mario Bros. Took some time getting used to but I did collect all Dragon Coins. If I can do it, so can you.
