Overall, however, the original series' movies were the best, tho, imho.
first contact tho

While First Contact is my second favourite Trek film (behind Wrath of Khan, natch), the other ones were all kinda meh, whereas the original series has a few more good entries to its name.

Also, Nemesis
killed Data
and that is unforgivable.

personally i tried to watch the original series and it was just so ungodly boring it was shameful.

TNG though is pretty great though and i seriously need to watch more of it.

I'd like to own it though as i like the series quite a bit and think it deserves to be paid for, rather than just watching online(plus id rather watch it on our huge tv rather then this medium sized monitor).

But i bet thats expensive.

it really is worth it, plus the first month is free with no commitments to purchase another month

well actually i used to have it and then shut it down because i dont make much money, so that 1 month probably isnt free anymore.

just use another email :P
worked for me after I used up my month

but why bother when i may or not even watch anything to begin with?

i mean sure tng is good but its live action and man it takes me forever to watch live action shows.

True, true.

That's the biggest problem you had with Nemesis? How about, well, pretty much anything else in the movie? Except the Scimitar was a pretty cool ship.
They did kill off Data, but he eventually returned in B4's body because he copied all of his memories onto B4. Which works for me.

And they played Data's death really well, I thought that was one of the highlights of the (otherwise forgettable) movie.

I have lots of problems with the movie, including the B4 stuff.

The impression I got is that B4 wasn't supposed to be Data returned, with it being more of a reincarnation sorta thing. But even if he does have all the memories, and even if he does become more human like Data, he still won't be the same person. At best, a "passing of the torch" interpretation is still cold comfort over your beloved character being gone forever, and at worst, it's a slap in the face if they were actually going so far as to act like B4 could replace Data.

IIRC in the Star Trek Expanded Universe (don't know if they call it that but that's definitely what it is) B4 ended up becoming exactly like Data; it just took Data a bit of time to reconfigure B4's body to his memories and personality.

You mean all the books and stuff? That's just fanfiction with pay as far as I'm concerned. On-screen or bust, imho.

But anyway, that's still a cheap resolution, not to mention kinda creepy since then B4 doesn't get to be his own person, just forcibly turned into a copy of Data.

I love how star trek vs star wars has become entirely star trek
I'd say despite the poll its pretty clear who won 8)

I guess there's no way for you to consider this a good ending, is there? : P

too bad there is no good star trek games, unlike star wars.

yep, star trek online was blah, I seem to recall a couple not to bad ones from years ago ps2 era
but star wars wins in terms of games hands down

yeah star trek online was such a massive disappointment.

buggy as hell and ship battles were just way too long and slow.

Despite that though it had good ground combat and nice customization.

Then again cryptic usually does a good job on customization.

Nnnnope. ;P

Also, I just found out that there's going to be a marathon of the original series movies on New Year's Eve. I have to work that day, but hopefully I'll at least get to see "The Undiscovered Country".

Sometimes it feels like I'm the only guy that gives a damn about Voyager.
No way. It started out a little rocky, iirc, but once it found its stride and the Borg started showing up, it got real good.

Hell, when I was little, screw being a Disney Princess - thanks to Voyager (and First Contact), I wanted to be the Borg Queen.

........I was a strange child.

No matter the side of this debate in which you stand, you must concede that Patrick Stewart was the finest Scrooge.
