You gotta give it credit, it is a great biography about learning to speak right and Colin Firth does give a great performance

Ok fine, but what about one year when The Hurt Locker beat Avatar, District 9, Up, Inglorious Basterds, and The Blind Side?

I agree Hurt Locker (generic action film like most superhero and Alien movies) doesn't really deserve it, my picks would've been An Education, Up, or Up in the Air, but as for Avatar: I think you only wanted it to win because it's pretty, District 9: generic alien film we've seen a million times, Blind Side: It's performed well but it's oscar baitish

I don't know if I want to because I love Tarentino...in the 90s but in the 2000s with movies like Kill Bill and Django, he's getting a little off hand
 
Lastly, here's one that bugged my parents.

The English Patient (a movie they assured me was the most boring movie they ever saw) beat both Fargo and Jerry Maguire (sic?).
