The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild

Re: Zelda (Wii U)

I thought the TP Overworld was the perfect size between being too big that it bores me and being so small that it might as well not exist.

So I'm not sure how to feel about this. It better have a metric fuckton of stuff to do within it at the very least, a big world for the sake of being big would feel really empty and excessive.

I feel like that is the point of an open world though.

What would be cool if they at least line the entire map with mini-dungeons.

Re: Zelda (Wii U)

what made tp's overworld so boring is that it was so bland and had little to do compared to other open world games such as skyrim and kingdom of amular

if they're going to make an open world game then there needs to be plenty to do, as df said, more dungeons

both main and optional, perhaps more sidequests this time around and generally new optional areas

otherwise if its gonna be like tp it will be pretty boring

Re: Zelda (Wii U)

Since so many people (as well as me) are hyped as hell for this game, how funny would it be if this game ended up being as good as the CD-I games? How would people react?

Based on what we've seen, the new game is already better than the CD-i games, even pre-release. If it did end up being a disaster, however, then many fans including myself would be pretty pissed off.

I was thinking since Nintendo said there's a crapload of things to do with this game and it ended up being dogshit, people would send a bunch of angry e-mails and start a huge riot so big it makes the Ferguson protestors feel sorry

I don't think that there would be a huge riot, but Nintendo might want to stay away from the internet for a while.

unlikely

now if this game went on development for 5 years and suddenly got scraped and nintendo blamed fans, then yes, otherwise; no.

TP was also kinda ugly to look at.

This game's world looks beautiful.

It aged terribly, but I can name at least 7 other Zelda games that were all more hideous to the eyes. Hell, a lot of the fans want a look like TP's again instead of the WW/SS look.

Re: Zelda (Wii U)

Last time I played TP it took some time for the look to grow on me but I ended up liking it better than the style that's used a lot in Zelda now. I'd love to see a game that returns to that style. Gerudo Desert was nice to run through as a wolf and Hyrule Castle was beautiful.

I hope they at least have some warp system between areas because im not looking forward to the idea of riding for long times when I just want to go to places I've already been.

Man who am I kidding I just hate huge overworlds, they bore me so much.

well thats just my opinion really, but so far ww/ss/ and this game are the most beautiful.

WW/SS definitely has a very beautiful style, though TP's style really help set the tone of the entire game. This was also a game that was made for the Gamecube (and just mirrored on the Wii), and at that time it was astounding to see Link look realistic for the most part.

I mean, sure, WW/SS will age decently, but if the graphics for Link were cleaned up and put into HD, it'll look amazing and probably more appealing to a lot of people. Cel shading has a nice touch to it, but both the games it was used in the tone was a lot brighter (Wind Waker had a few deep moments but there was some more humor compared to other Zelda games), not saying it was bad or anything.

Anywho, I am still a bit crossed about the art style of the new Zelda U game. Like, the landscapes are beautiful and the grass is beautiful and all the details in it and how realistic it feels, but then I feel like the rock textures are a bit bland, and the sunset scene was meh since it kind of made things blurry (of course, this was a zoomed out showing of the game and so it was a bit hard to judge if it was just the game or if it was the camera recording it from that distance).

Re: Zelda (Wii U)

I'd be up for it, if it's good like Kid Icarus Uprising. Get bad voice acting, then the whole game suffers.

Re: Zelda (Wii U)

Link should talk.

Or at least have some personality.

That's executed well.
