Best Starter Pokemon of each Generation?

2. Totodile > Cyndaquil > Chikorita (although they're all bad)

How?

none of them are too ambitious with their designs and all seem really, really basic.

the only one where the basic design works well is quilava, who just seems like a really lithe pokemon. typhlosion on the other hand looks like he's trying to be both large and thin at the same time, which doesn't work.

I think Gen III has the best starters but Gen III is my favorite Gen of all so....

gen V is my favorite gen and i think its starters are the 2nd worst

*shrug* I think I like gen 3 much just because I grew up with it and I played it more than the first two, and I enjoyed it more than the first two. :P

I most often tend to prefer the pokemon that look the most like real animals (with exceptions)

Well, for me, I like Pokemon that look like inanimate objects :P

Generation 1: I generally go with Squirtle
Generation 2: Totodile
Generation 3: Treecko
Generation 4: Tie between Turtwig and Piplup
Generation 5: Snivy (sometimes I still call it Smugleaf)
Generation 6: Fennekin

Fire types don't look like a favorite of mine, although I do like Cyndaquil a lot.

I think that Generation 3 or 4 had the best starters with Generation 5 having the worst.

Favorite overall would be Turtwig.
