General Discussion

I'd help with the category stuff, but I'm preoccupied with completing challenges in order to have images. Speaking of, does someone happen to know anyone that's completed the really hard challenges and can upload them to the wiki?
You can also just wait until the folks at the Spriters Resource rip the images. Since Mario Kart 8 has some ripped images now, it won't be long until Super Smash Bros. for Wii U sprites of these challenge images crop up.

Cue the Islamophobic groups barring children from playing the Mario series after depicting Mario praying before the Koran.

There are tons of pictures of the things, but there doesn't appear to be any actual info on them...

I guess that can go in the Holy Grails thread.

The artworks would be nice to have despite the little information, though since, well, they are information and we ARE a Mario Wiki. :P

From what I've been able to scrounge up, they're from a company called Atlas Editions and were sent out via subscription. There are a few sets of them for sale online it seems like, but no idea how many there actually are.

it sounds like it was directly translated from japanese

This Gary Fields person must have had a heck of a time drawing these things, lol.

To add on the weird Mario merchandise pile, I really wish we had the full context behind this because it's the greatest *bleep* ever.

I love the "*bleep*!" in the middle.

It probably is directly from Japanese because fanlations from Super Mario-Kun have similar words, and I do believe Japan has a different standards on swearing for children to view. Besides, this looks like something from that Japan-exclusive Great Mission to Rescue Peach movie.

In English, anyway. Pretty sure Super Mario-kun's got its share of "kuso"s and whatnot - Japan's a lot more liberal with the profanities.

is it ok to add a gallery of character voice clips into their respective gallery articles?

Maybe for easier organization, you could title the voice clips by when they're used and not direct quotes of the clips? I don't know, hearing Wario say "Boom shaka laka" is funny, but kinda weird without context.

I don't know when Wario says that though.

the voice clip for "boom shaka laka" is called "WA_RA_JUML_01_01_2D_Amb_ny_28_dspadpcm"

the "juml" means that it might be a trick jump (as baby luigi's) but the naming is all over the place with some characters (there's a voice clip that says blg_Damage_Fire-03_Amb_ny_32_dspadpcm when it's actually Baby Luigi getting a bad start)

bringing up the enemy tower stuff and --- from mario maker again, i would really like to stop the creation of further pages like this before it becomes a problem

Perhaps a temporary SiteNotice (until the hype over the game dies down) would help stop new fan-construct pages from being made?

maybe

Regarding the recent pair of proposals about adding images to templates, if consistency with them is such a big issue, I'm thinking we ought to go the other way. Just cut the image from delete and be done with it, as was already brought up in the Construction one. Thoughts?
(I'd have made a proposal myself, but I'm away from my computer at the moment.)
