I saw mine at a store a few towns away. Only one there. I heard it was pretty hard to get a hold of so I bought it, this wasn't long after being released too. I didn't like it when I was younger because the game expects at least some intelligence from you, which I didn't have.
Though I played it last year and I can honestly say from that moment on; Metroid Prime became my favourite video game.
