Bowser Jr.

Bowser's minion who hasn't appeared in over a decade, is only really fought in second appearance though there was a scripted boss battle in the first.

This character appeared on a poster in Yoshi Theater in the game, Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga. This character is celebrating this year for some reason.

This character had different colored clothes than normal and was greedy and selfish in a rather obscure animated movie.
 
Luigi (In that anime, he was Wario before Wario was a thing, greedy and wearing yellow)

This character, despite being a minion of Bowser, does not attack Mario and reveals that he has no ill will towards him. He's also obese and his face is never seen.

With a little bit of research, I came up with Azalea.

This evil knight in shiny armor has its origin in a game not related to Mario, though it later did.
Wait a minute. This person never had armor except in one game. Even then, it wasn't even shiny. (Bonus if you can guess this game.)
