If I had to rank the gens it would go like this:

5 > 4 > 2 > 3 > 1 > 6

I just can't get into gen4 for some reason. It's probably because it's the only one where I don't like any of the starters, so there's just a void of interest for me in the beginning that I continue to fail to overcome.

I hated Gen 6, X/Y were trash that completely killed all my interest in Pokemon for almost 2 years. I don't know how it was so bad, it just was.

I have a bit of a soft spot for Infernape since it was my first starter, but it isn't even my favourite starter anymore. That would go to Serperior.

I have so much nostalgia for Gen 4, it makes me want to play through Platinum. On the other hand, I want to play through Black or White.
