Super Mario Maker

That would be totally awesome

But I doubt it will happen.

So I'll be in my corner with my Baby Luigi merc. crying my eyes out

Until someone reminds me I can play as an 8 bit Ness again.

I'm just glad Ashley is in.

I still want to know if they will do something like Splatoon and add in new elements often. I don't think it will happen though.

At best, we'll probably just get updates that add more amiibo support. Of course, anything can happen.

this frickin dying sound lmao

it might be like a hidden one-in-a-whatever effect like the luigi mushroom but i hope you can make it happen on purpose, it's hilariously weird

e: actually maybe it's the quitting sound? idk

Goombas are a costume.

My life has reached fulfillment.

I forgot to mention, but the Sonic sprite is really jarring. Why did they just rip it right out of the Genesis games instead of making one that doesn't clash with the art style?

It's probably a licensing type of dilemma, since Sonic is SEGA's property.

Why don't they make the sprite from scratch?

oh yay mewtwo's confirmed

i was positive dlc characters wouldn't get costumes until an update or something

yes this is a very important question that must be answered

Mario Kart Mario?

Here are two videos that features a custom course that's trying to reference the Metroid series.

I can tell you right now that that very course is one where you CAN'T waste any time, AND you need a good memory as well. You're only given up to 500 seconds on the timer, so every second matters for reaching the goal. These are just some things to keep in mind, but it sounds like the custom courses from the review copies will not be sticking around for the 9/11 release, so odds are, we won't be able to play the course.

Isn't Pikachu just the HGSS walking sprite? Not sure on Mewtwo.
It doesn't look like Heart Gold/ Soul Silver, but I could be wrong.

Gee, why isn't there an option to remove the timer or at least make it 999 (like you can in Reggie!)?

Odds are, Nintendo probably doesn't want players to be uploading ridiculously long courses onto the Super Mario Maker servers. The Super Mario platformers are about reaching the goal within the time limit, whereas, Metroid is a much slower-paced game.

Well, perhaps, but they should at least up the time limit just a smidge so the level is actually doable without rushing.

that stage is beautiful

shame it's probably not one of the built-in courses

Yeah the sad part is that all the review copy courses will be removed from the servers once the game is officially released to the public. As a result, you'll never be able to try out those very courses for yourself; the course IDs that you see on the videos will not work.

I still wonder what Michel Ancel's course will be.

Technically you could just try to recreate the stage based on video footage.

Or 0 in Lunar Magic (disables the timer)

(or the funnier 5F, which equals 35 minutes or sth. iirc)

Okay, I've been trying to figure out how the courses are chosen for the 100 Mario Challenge, and I think I might have an idea on how it works...

(No. of players who cleared the course) / (No. of players who played the course) = Clear Rate

The higher the clear rate, the more likely the course will be treated as an easier course. In other words, the easy difficulty would consist of courses that have high clear rates; normal would be for courses with a moderate clear rate; expert would be for courses with a low clear rate.

Examples
270 / 300 = 90% -> Easy course
110 / 200 = 55% -> Normal course
24 / 150 = 16% -> Expert course

NoA still makes those "video games in the real world" commercials (especially Mario game commercials)?

They should do another one. This time with 3D sprites from SMB.
