That pretty much confirms that's the final roster, 12 characters.

that's a terrible roster

it's a wii u game and it STILL can't surpass 8's roster?
They have the same amount of playable characters as a game TWO home console generations ago (Gamecube).

the returning ones are nice and all (DK and Toadette), but it really doesn't justify the large amount of cuts either. I think most were generic enemies and there's Bowser jr.

Watch Spike get cut in the next installment and see no one care about that.

I think the new mini games look like fun. The boss ones even look better then the last game's boss mini games.

Leave it to ND Cube to introduce new random crap characters only to pull them in the next game.

Were there ANY newcomers in Mario Party 9 or Island Tour that made it past their debut game?

I wish Bowser Jr. was in this game. He debuted in the wrong game.

This video also includes the new Bowser mini games.

It assumes that people haven't played any Mario Party previous to Mario Party 9.

Or maybe they assume that no one but the people that have only played 9 are still around. (lol jk, but really tho) :P

BTW, in that video above this post, 3:09 DK just slaps Peach.

I think there are many people in the world who would like to slap peach.

So the classic board gameplay (20 coins for a star) seems to be exclusive to Amiibos? I don't really like that.
It's probably a lot less fair, or the amiibos are CPUs.

I hope there are more Bowser party games than just the ones shown thus far.

So 9 characters have their own amiibo boards. I think the rest of the characters playable in MP10 (including Spike) will have their own board, via Super Mario series wave 2.

Can't wait for Spike amiibo.

Don't you mean "classic" board gameplay

I really hope Bowser party doesn't let me down.

I'm not getting my hopes up for Bowser Party, I'll just play the boards normally. Amiibo party looks alright, doesn't justify purchasing amiibo's for me though so I'm not going to give it any thought.

I hope Bowser party stays from here onward.

I'm also hoping it paves way for more Bowser oriented games but I'm not holiding my breath.

What I've always wanted to see is Bowser playable on the same level as the rest of the characters. It's just weird that he's playable in every other spinoff but not Mario Party. If DK can work so can Bowser. Bowser Party looks fun, but I think I'd rather enjoy a boss minigame with Mario, Luigi, Peach, and Bowser on one side and some new enemy or a more minor enemy as the boss.

Meanwhile Bowser Party can become its own series of games where Bowser is the protagonist and he must use various tricks to stop Toads from stealing from his castle.

I'd rather him still stay primarily as an antagonist with him being playable in his own games every now and then. I'd feel it would ruin the specialness of it if it came too frequently.

No.

Bowser has ALWAYS been the antagonist in Mario Party. No exceptions to that rule. And for a good reason: he screws around with party-goers and stuff to add more flavor to the game and he's always been a hilarious bad guy. No guy should ever take his spot as the bad guy, or else it really won't be a Mario Party anymore.

You're just saying this just to push your agenda of "deh other villains" to have spotlight. No thanks.

Not to mention watching computers fail and lose their stars/coins to him (most notably in MP1, MP6 and MP8) is just dang hilarious

Funny, thats what I think about most Mario games in general.

Mario Party is a specific case mostly because I really adore Bowser's role in Mario Party.

Nobody trolls Mario Party better than Bowser.

I just think there could be a spinoff of the Party games in which they let Bowser party on the same level as the rest. I'm not trying to phase him out or anything like that. No need to get all on the defensive.

He's also been the villain of all the platformers with only three exceptions, but that doesn't mean a fully playable appearance is out of the question. Besides, if you want to keep him the villain in Mario Party you better remove the likes of Spike, since it's weird seeing him attacking his own minions.
