Definitely going for GameCube controller. No competition.

Honorable mention to Classic.

Gamecube controller, though I also like the GamePad a lot.

GameCube FTW

GameCube is the best

I used the Pro Controller for 3D World and i wasn't to sure if it felt good, it seemed too much like an Xbox controller and I really hate using those at times.

I vote for the GamePad. It's the only controller that lets you play in freaking Off-TV mode which is something everyone should be praising about. It's screen is also a 480p which is also relatively brilliant and the GamePad is surprisingly very comfortable to hold. It's also a convenient location to store game HUD and make you quickly access menus.

idk there's no "best controller"

gamecube has the best overall layout but it feels wayyy to plasticky and cheep

wii remote is... weird, but it allows you to move the nunchuk and wii remote away from each other which is nice

gamepad is bulky and heavy but has extra features

pro controller is probably best to hold overall, has good layout of buttons but not quite as good as gamecube

GC Controller, Wii U pro being a close second.

the button layout on the wii u pro is better the only thing it lacks is analog buttons.

I thought the Wii U Pro COntrollers ZL/ZR Buttons were pressure sensitive like the L/R Buttons of the GameCube.

Nope all trigger buttons on all Wii U controllers are digital because lol Nintendo.

I actually prefer digital shoulder buttons than pressure sensitive ones in the GameCube controller. Those are fragile and they screw me up too many times when I play Super Smash Bros. Melee.

The Gamepad isn't all that heavy but yeah it is a bit bulky.

gcn beats the crap out of the other controllers so there ya go.

GC, is that even a question?
^^^^^^^^^
why else would they make the adapter for the wii u
clearly blows away the competition

To satisfy nostalgic people who played Melee?
Or maybe because it's a great controller that is perfect for Smash.

Except if they make those shields pressure sensitive. That freaking annoyed me in Melee when my character doesn't drop out of the shield quick enough and grabs instead of attacks.
