yeah honestly i'm pretty sure most people only are saying gamecube for sentimental reasons

like, the only advantages that it has over the pro controller are pressure sensitive triggers and a different button layout, and you can see those as cons

i guess the button layout probably was superior, but god i can't get past how plasticky it was

rong

i think those are good features, pressure sensitivity isnt a bad thing at all. the pro controller feels disproportionate to me because of the sticks; it just feels awkward, like an inversed ps3 controller or something. i dont mind having my left thumb on the top left of a controller but my right thumb is just too much, its too far apart

but all controllers are plastic wtf

How many games actually used the D-pad?

Hands down GamePad for me. While I do like the comfort of a GC controller, I find the GamePad much more fitting to my hands, and plus the fact that it's basically a console in itself and you don't even need a TV screen to play a game other than the one that controller itself has.

My favorite is the GamePad, the GC controller is on the second place.

Gamecube Controller doesn't have a screen. Its shoulder triggers also get worn, making shielding in Super Smash Bros. Melee a pain in the ass.

Gamepad for me.

The GameCube controller still requires a TV to play. The GamePad doesn't. It's a wonderful convenience that people won't get unless they have friends and family who might want to use the TV for other reasons. I think it's the absolute best aspect of the GamePad, and a very strong one too. It's almost like a handheld device with the power of a console.

The Wonderful 101
Rayman Legends

And why does "it's ONLY minigames" a strong argument? Regardless of the game or not, it's still innovative use of the gamepad in a variety of ways. I think it definitely qualifies as a good example of the potential the gamepad could do.

Not to mention that Wii Sports Resorts is a full-fledged game, having the same amount of mini-games as Nintendo Land, and Nintendo Land honestly has more stuff in it than Wii Sports Resorts.

Pikmin 3.
Is controlled better with the Wii Remote and Nunchuk.

I use the Wiimote and Nunchuck, but the GamePad screen was very innovative in getting my tasks down with the way I could send my players to the location without having to guide them myself and getting a great aerial view of everything that is happening.

Plus, I don't think Wind Waker was stated as well, but I definitely got a full use of that from changing items real quick and viewing the map instead of constantly having to bring it up like you had to with the original Wind Waker.

Also, just because not all games take advantage of the touch screen doesn't mean that it's not innovative. I agree with BLOF that it is an amazing thing to have when you constantly have to share the television. I remember spending a lot of time growing up and being told to stop playing a game because a show was coming on and stuff, and when I got a tv in my room, I would have to take everything upstairs and play it on there (I had like a 10 inch screen compared to the 50'' we have downstairs. I now have an HD 22'', but downstairs still is so much better), and it was such a hassle to constantly tow the system up and down the steps just to keep on playing the game.

Now you can change the tv setting from the GamePad (I love being able to turn on my tv and stuff and get it all set up without having to find all the other controllers) and when they want to watch tv, it's quick and simple. And then I'll be away playing games like Donkey Kong Country Tropical Freeze or Super Mario 3D World or Wii U VC and being able to continue playing the game all I want. Not to mention that you can have the GamePad showing the screen whenever you switch to the Wii Menu (to play Wii games or Wii VC with classic controller) and while you still have to point at a sensor, you can have the GamePad screen in front of you and play the game while your parents or siblings are watching television.

Maybe some of you guys don't know the struggle, but it really makes this the best controller hands down.

It also comes with an earbud port so you can handily listen to the game at its best quality.

This entire post is like first world problems personified.

Headphones are better quality than surround sound?

Gosh Aiko, you're being difficult right now.

Headphones are when you are playing by yourself and you don't have a tv available. Surround sound + headphones when tv not available >>> Surround sound + no sound when tv not available.

Plus, why does it matter if it's first world problems? We're talking about which controller is the best! This entire thread is just a first world debate. I mean, a lot of people are saying GCN controller over 64 because of the analog stick. That's a first world problem.

I don't know what the point in even playing Wii U games on the Game Pad using that shitty 480p screen is, but okay.

Well then, we should mock the 3DS since their screens don't have a high resolution either. Heaven forbid that a new innovative design that Nintendo makes is not at HD quality. I'm sure making a touch screen at HD for a controller that connects console-handheld gaming together with that controller is so easy. You know, I forgot that other companies had made games where you use both the tv and the GamePad for completely different functions and that all the other Companies had already invented all of that in HD.

And it's not shitty quality at all. It might not be HD like it can be on televisions, but at least it's not terrible.

I do, because they seriously released a device in 2011 with fucking 240p screens?

Also I laugh at all your other points.

Yes, I think it's better. First, it's up close and personal, and second, the sound quality is much more clear to me. Besides, only one television in the house owns a soundbar and my parents love complaining about noise level. Besides, when the TV is in use, earbuds are the best option to fully immerse in your game.

Is that your best rebuttal against a great feature?

480p is freaking standard definition for nonHD TVs. How in hell is that crappy in any way shape or form? You're expecting the Gamepad to be 720p?
