Power cycle your home network.
If you have been able to connect with others before, and this issue only recently started, power cycling your network may allow you to connect with others again. [How to]

Review our Network Status page and ensure there are no service notifications related to Wii U matchmaking services.
Ensure your Wii U is connected online and try again.
Test your Wii U consoles Internet connection by performing a connection test. If the connection test fails, use the error code provided to troubleshoot your Wii U consoles Internet connection.
Manually enter your network IP address and DNS information.
Manually entering your network information into the Wii U console's Internet settings may help you resolve this matchmaking issue. [How to]
Place the Wii U into your router's DMZ (demilitarized zone)*.
Placing the Wii U in your router's DMZ will allow it to bypass your router's firewall and allow you to connect with others. [How to]

What to Do:
Unplug the power cable from both the modem and wireless router (if separate from the modem).
If the modem's lights remain on, this may indicate you have a back-up battery installed. You will need to remove this battery to power cycle the modem.
After 30 seconds, plug the power cable back into your modem and wait for the lights to remain steady.

From the Wii U Menu, select "System Settings."
Using the Left Stick, select the "Internet" icon and press the A Button.
Tap "Connect to the Internet."
Press the X Button or tap "Connections" in the top-right corner.
Tap on the Internet connection you wish to update.
Tap the arrow on the right and select "IP Address."
Tap "Don't Auto-Obtain" and enter the following information, ensuring you enter the "." between each set of numbers:
Tap "IP Address" and enter your IP address by adding 10 to the IP address listed in your PC.
Example: If your computer's IP address displays 192.168.2.5, you will enter it into the Wii U as 192.168.2.15.
Tap "Subnet Mask" and enter in the subnet mask as it appears in your network settings. Often, this is 255.255.255.000.
Tap "Gateway" and enter in the default gateway as it appears in your network settings.
Tap "Confirm."
