the DEEP AND EXTREMELY CANONICAL Mario series TOTALLY CAN'T bring Fawful back
...except the RPGs DO have an established canon of some sort
like Fawful dying in SS and then reappearing in the next two games?

or (Elder? idr which one) Princess Shroob reappearing in Bowser's castle after being destroyed in the previous game?

Fawful didn't die in SS.

It was normal shroobs, not the princess.
No, the Elder Shroob Princess reappeared even though her spirit blatantly blew up.

Ok, I only remembered fighting two normal shroobs in the castle.

the second one is a good point though, but exceptions DO NOT make a rule
One would think that the biggest mainstay in the series would make a fine exception, wouldn't you think?

Again I admit it's a good point, but it's only one exception that I know is valid

Fawful didn't exactly DIE in Superstar Saga though. In Bowser's Inside Story, he EXPLICITLY stated he was "going down with you", meaning he was gonna kamikaze himself.

pretty sure Fawful exploded in SS

also if an exception is made, another one can also be made

I don't think so. I don't know any other notable exceptions to the rule. Exceptions should be treated as such: exceptions.

but it's still completely possible for there to be another one

As well as it's possible for it not to have any more exceptions beyond this

well yeah

but whether or not another exception is actually made, the "x character can't return because they're dead" argument is still complete bullshit

The reason I don't want any of the RPG characters in mainstream Mario games is because that's the exact reason I like them.

If Fawful started appearing in every Mario game, I would get tired of him.

That's probably why Nintendo killed off Fawful. You always leave them wanting more.

He didn't. He was thrown out of the floating castle by Peasley into, presumably, the ocean. And it's obviously the same Fawful since he re-appears in PiT plotting his revenge and then he's the main antagonist in BIS.

This is how I view Fawful's death and subsequent return in BiS.
Back when SS was made Fawful exploding was meant to be the end for him. However the devs didn't realize how popular he'd become as such they brought him back in PiT and forshadowed his return for the third game.

Now why do I view his death in BiS as final by comparison? Simple, they killed him off, as well as him giving a huge ''I give up'' speech knowing full well how popular the character was.
