Also according to the primary art, they are blush-esque spots (further supported by normal Monty Mole having them as blush-esque spots in some early GCN games up until their redesign in SM64DS, as the aforementioned design is taken from SMW Monty Mole's sprite and somewhat-obscure standing artwork), so Broth needs to get it together.

a neat lil thing about these smb2 artworks is that theyre both sorted by who runs/picks up items the fastest

..which i never realised until now actually correlates so all the characters end up in the same order
a shame there isnt one for jumping though. i kinda wanna draw that now
