Tanooki Mario has 2 color options and Cape Mario has 2 versions: one with the original colors and the other with only 3 colors like the NES would actually be able to have.

Mario Golf was the first time Peach wore her sports attire, so maybe that's Mario getting a nice look at Peach's legs.

Unless Mario's shocked how hairy her legs are or something. So he's all like "ooooo lovely l... oh."
