A bit late, but here is the finest tribute to Adam Yauch that I can think of;

A bit late, but after listening to some of their songs, The Beastie Boys are a pretty good band and it's a shame that Adam Yauch died.

Don't know if anyone heard, but we lost another musician today.

Bob Welch of Fleetwood Mac and a successful solo musician, best known for his songs "Ebony Eyes" and "Sentimental Lady", committed suicide earlier today at the age of 66.

Rest in peace, Bob. I always loved your work (especially "Ebony Eyes").

Bob Welch? Awww man :(

Ey'. My dad reckons that a new type of music will rise in the near future. The dire music of today is signalling that maybe something new will rise up soon. Like punk rock in the 70's. What do you think about it?

1. I don't like it when people say that 'music today sucks' because there has always been bad music that's topped the charts and been extremely successful, and it has always been forgotten within a decade, while the good music lasts. Within the last decade, Gorillaz, Radiohead, MGMT, Arcade Fire, Bon Iver, and many other great musicians and bands have come to prominence. There is a ton of good music these days.

2. Punk rock was exactly as manufactured as the music it lashed out against, quite probably more so. Just sayin'.

3. The sort of music that becomes successful is changing, yeah, and for the better. Three years ago, a song like "Somebody That I Used to Know" wouldn't have even charted at all, let alone reached #1.

70s punk, probably. But the post-punk movement remedied that somewhat, at least in the realm of experimentation, and it's a bit silly to say 80s hardcore punk was "manufactured".

I will always find Sex Pistols and Ramones infinitely entertaining, so that's certainly a fact.

Incidentally, I've listened to Daft Punk's Alive 2007 for the first time today, and I can't believe it took me so long to hear this work of art. This is one of the finest examples of musical reinvention I've ever heard.

Yeah, they're pretty great. AFAIK the Sex Pistols were the ones that were 'manufactured' and the Ramones were genuine, but it doesn't really matter, they both left their mark on music in a pretty great way.

I heard a few tracks from it and it is amazing.

This has got to be the most catchy, unique track I've heard in a long time.

I was just listening to "Clash" by Caravan Palace the other day, pretty catchy stuff.

Have you listened to the entire album? The song is amazing in the concept album's context.

I actually discovered these guys recently through a friend. I started looking into their other stuff. I really want to get the discography now. The sound sampling in "A different feeling" is unique, but my favorite from this album so far is Pablo's Cruise.

You know what Ghost Jam likes? When metal comes along and makes older theoretically good songs theoretically better.

Have I ever told you how much I absolutely despise Children of Bodom?

Oh my god, that cover sounds terrible, perhaps more terrible than the actual song.

Yeah, Children of Bodom isn't for everyone, but I've been a fan for a few years. I'm finding that a lot of 90's/early 2000s pop songs translate well into metal, but that's most likely just my strange taste in music talking.

oh my god this is the best thing ever

(not really music but related to music)
