There should really be an action rpg for the next 3d mario game.

Need I remind you that this is a platformer series?

sure didnt stop all the spin-offs.

The difference is they didn't replace the main series.

You're making it seem like he's suggesting to do it for more than one game. One game is all he wants.

I am reminding him that this is a series about platformers, if he wanted to play something that isn't a platformer then he should not be going to the part of the franchise thats specifically about platformers.

doesnt mean they cant do a 3d spinoff either.

Wasn't Super Paper Mario already an action RPG?

no, it was a platformer rpg.

action rpgs play more like darksiders 2, tales of vesperia, and grand chase.

There's a bunch other that play nothing like spm, and there are platformer rpgs that play similar to spm.

Pretty big difference.

I'd like a Super Paper Mario sequel that plays like Super Mario Galaxy

That would be a terrible combination.

Of course it would, if you hate serious Mario stories. But most people don't mind that. Just add skippable cutscenes and it would be almost perfect.

If by perfect you mean lame and uninspired yes.

I would rather have skippable cutscenes than to endure a pretentious and tiring story.

I'd rather just not have a plot.

Then they can just have an optional plot that can be skipped.

There! Both teams win!

A good plot isn't something that can just be skipped over, plus the time that goes into developing a plot is better used on something else.

Like what? The gameplay is already solid, and as for the overall style they could use Galaxy as a base and go from there. I bet they could make a completely original story complete with a new villain and even more new allies, more playable characters including Bowser, and the gameplay style of Galaxy/Sunshine/64 and it would be a best-seller.

Like plenty, making more levels, adding more details, refing mechanics, creating new mechanics, all sorts of things. And if they need to sacrifice some arbitrary plot that means fuck all then go for it.

I dunno, the RPGs have plenty of new interesting mechanics, worlds and still have a decent plot.

I'm pretty sure the story is written by a completely different department anyway.

And I bet they would have even more of it if they didn't have a plot and weren't under tight development like SS was. Story isn't something you can just slap into a game, if you do that then its going to suck terribly and would negatively affect the game. It might be written by a different person but time has to be taken to implement it, time better spent on doing other things.

why do you keep insisting that Galaxy has the same style of gameplay as Sunshine and 64? The galaxy games are obviously way more linear.
