So this is some new Popeye movie.

Discuss.

According to Behind the Voice Actors, Tom Kenny (The guy behind Spongebob and Ice King from Adventure Time) will be voicing Popeye in this. Olive will be voiced by Grey DeLisle (From Fairly Odd Parents, Avatar: The Last Airbender, Scooby-Doo etc.).

i saw this trailer a while ago and was utterly disturbed

the animation style just does not work. it looks weird. why couldn't they have just made a 2d animated movie, or gone for a style more like the new peanuts movie

Popeye should have been again played by Ro-DAMMIT. Uuuuggghhhh.

My thoughts exactly.

I think the animation looks awesome for 3D. It reminds me of this: http://youtu.be/4b3F9oucB_A

Maybe I don't know enough about Popeye but what bugged me was the dancing yellow dude. He reminds me of the Minions from Despicable Me or the comic relief fishys from The Lorax.

Also I didn't see his pipe. They better include his pipe.

So far so good. I like it that they have professional voice actors to play the leads rather than having some big named celebrity.

implying that big name actors can't be voice actors

implying that voice actors can't be big names

tom kenny a grey deleslie are pretty famous in their fields

genndy tartokovsky is directing

thats all it took to convince me

but yeah where is the pipe it seems weird without it

i hope its better than the other popeye movie (not the robin williams one i mean the other animated one)

i saw the trailer and besides the pipe, his tattoos are gone and there's no mention of spinach

thankfully, this is just a test animation so im sure it will all be there when they start making the movie

Or this could be an origin story where he gets his tattoo's and his pipe and his spinach later on.

I hope they bring in J. Wellington Wimpy. He's funny.

I remember one strip where Wimpy tricked Popeye into giving him a baked potato by pretending he had a dead uncle who resembled the potato.

For every Mark Hamill, there's a Chris Rock.

They might, but ask the common joe if they know Christian Bale, then ask about Jim Cummings.

That I can agree. But most animated movies always go for the big nameed actors instead of professional actors because money.

Late to the punch but...

Now that's a excellent definition of a cartoon! It looks like they found a scene from the past where cartoons were cartoons.
