The Kirby thread for everything Kirby

Anyways, what Kirby games would you recommend? Is the new one on 3DS similar to the one I played on GBA? I've seen footage of the Wii one (my nephew owns it, Return to Dreamland I think is the name) and it looks pretty cool. However the new Wii U one doesn't look like my cup of tea. I figure Kirby for the most part is similar enough to Mario for me to enjoy some of the games. I'd just like the ability to directly control my character (hence why I don't really like the Wii U one)

Triple deluxe, return to dreamland, superstar ultra, dreamland 1-3, Kirby 64, the amazing mirror, Squeak Squad

All the platformer ones really.

Cool, I think I played the original Dream Land too, I might even still own it. Don't remember beating it though, always got killed on or near the final boss. IIRC there was a boss rush at the end, probably why I couldn't beat it.

That would be Mt Dedede, the only mandatory boss rush in the series though also probably the most lenient.

hmm pretty big on the kirby series, i havent loved every game but i have loved quite a bit.

Such as kssu, triple deluxe, amazing mirror, kirby returns to dreamland, kdl3, and kirby air ride.

I havent played a chunk of them though.

I miss Shinichi Shimomura's characters. The animal friends only get small cameos, and the only other thing Adeleine has been in is Brawl in the Family.

I need to get Kirby and the Rainbow Curse sometime soon. I didn't get it at launch, but unless tat amiibo/limited-edition 3DS ordeal has carried over to games, I should be fine. Unfortunately, this game looks to be another Tropical Freeze. A gorgeous, fun Wii U platformer with gorgeous graphics that gets overlooked by other games.

My favorite is Kirby Super Star Ultra, but Kirby and the Amazing Mirror and Kirby Triple Deluxe are not too far behind. I honestly think that the Kirby series is easily one of Nintendo's best in terms of quality. I don't think that there has been a downright bad Kirby game, and the series has had plenty of chances to mess up.

My Kirby games from favourite to least favourite:

Super Star Ultra
Return to Dream Land
Amazing Mirror
Kirby's Adventure
Kirby's Dream Land - Especially since Super Star Ultra has an updated version of it

I'd say the ''worst'' Kirby game is Squeak Squad and even that is hardly bad. It just felt a bit too samey after nightmare in dreamland and amazing mirror respectively.

I liked the the combination abilities in that game

Yeah that was cool, a bit underutilized though.

Didn't play Squeak Squad, but I played Kirby 64, and combinations are definitely amazing.

I can't even name a favorite combination ability, so many great ones.

Its nowhere near as developed in SS as it is in 64.

kirby64 is actually a game i need to play.

As the combination abilities sound great and ive heard the level design and bosses are generally a lot of fun.

Its a great game. Even its blocky graphics still hold up nicely due to its art style.

Kirby 64 is one of my favorite games of all time. I recommend it. Fire + Bomb, Bomb + Cutter, and Stone + Spark were my favorite abilities.

As for Kirby Squeak Squad, it was a good game that had like the easiest final boss ever in a Kirby game and one of the hardest. The final boss was so lame. The World 3 boss was downright sadistic.

The new abilities introduced in Squeak Squad were pretty bad too, imo. Animal was OK, but Bubble was bad and Metal was absolute garbage.

One of the worst things about the game was that they excluded this song in the unlockable soundtrack for unknown reasons. Terrible.

After Dark Mind Dark Nebula was just a really lame villain. The only amusing thing about it was that it was like fighting a corrupted warp star

Ice + Spark, Stone + Bomb, Stone +Cutter, Stone + Needle, etc

This might not be the games but has anyone else watched any of Kirby: Right Back at Ya/Hoshii no Kabii? Or am I like the nerdiest of Kirby nerds and no one else has seen any of it?

I've seen it. As far as video game shows went it wasn't bad.

Though I hate Tiff/Fumu and I wasn't crazy on how they turned Dedede into more of a villain where as in the games he really isn't all that bad.

Boy, one thing I love about the kirby series is how charming they are. They always put a lot of effort into their animation/sprites and give the characters plenty of personality even though the plots are barely anything more complex than ''bad guy doing bad thing, go stop''

I'm always a fan of the sprite work in the Kirby series.

It even carries over to the 3D games.

It really helps give the series lots of flavour.

I like the art style too. I find it very cool that the main characters are given so much personality and yet they don't really talk. There are occasions but still
