I went into Target this morning and they actually had enough Gold Marios to cater to everyone in line.

They also had a bunch of Captain Falcons, Villagers, Dededes and all three Yarn Yoshis, I would have gotten a Villager but I had already spent enough on Yoshi's Woolly World today so I held off on it.

Under the hopes that holding off an amiibo purchase now won't mean I'll never get one ever.

Got green Yoshi. I wanted blue as well but they were all gone. Had heaps of pink but I'm like nuuuu mustn't frivolously spend.

I swear to god the gold and silver Marios are the ugliest effing things and in addition to that they're not even metal, they're just painted. Like people, please, chillllll

I don't use amiibos for anything because I don't have the Wii U version of Smash, but I do collect the ones I think are cool. I have Ness, Captain Falcon, Wario, and Girl Inkling. Probably will get G&W because it's fucking G&W, man.

Robin, Ness, Wario, and Marth make up my hoard. man I didn't think I'd end up liking my amiibos as much as I do. Having a small group of them only makes me want more, but I certainly won't be able to endure the heartache of finding the ones I've missed. I splurged on Marth because MARTH, and plus he looks amazing and I'll be able to use him in FE:Fates

In all honesty, my ideal collection would be the ones I currently own plus:
Villager
Wii Fit Trainer
Palutena
Dr. Mario
Inkling Girl/Boy/Squid
Mr G&W
Lucas
Roy
Toad
Luigi
Isabelle
and then i'd be out of the amiibo game for good, no more amiibo money from me nintendo

until they announce the waluigi amiibo

My twin likes the Silver because it looks like Metal Mario

They're pretty shiny and nice to touch too.

No one cares about Gold Mario tho, lel

I managed to get the last Palutena amiibo in the store this evening and a Ganondorf one, though there were lots of them. Unfortunately no Yarn Yoshi at all, not surprising with that stock destroy story. I will post photo later.

As of now, I have Samus, Mega Man, and Pac-Man. I haven't struck gold finding any of the rare ones as of late (although I did find a Marth last week for $40 but hell I'm not spending $40), but the hunt is still on.

I don't own any, and I intend to stay that way until I need a Link amiibo, and four other amiibos for 100% completion of Hyrule Warriors.

The only thing locked behind amiibo in Hyrule Warriors is the Spinner weapon for Link. Toon Link functions just like Link and Zelda/Sheik/Ganondorf only give you a random Lv3 weapon that you can get in-game anyway.

So you only need one amiibo for that 100% completion.

Pretty sure they'd work as normal, like their data is still on the game, the lock just stops you from selecting them on the player screen.

Same should apply to DLC characters assuming you have the update for them. Dunno what would happen without the update, like maybe there would just be a 'this character is incompatible' error


Anyway today I got Pink Yoshi (Target), Fox (EB) and Blue Yoshi (Kmart). Kmart were selling Fox for $15 so I'm peeved that I could have saved money if I had gone there first.

I just need someone confirming about using locked character amiibos because that was a pressing issue in one of the wiki talk pages... but it's also good to know!

He probably won't be rare. And if he isn't rare, that means the Link series is the only series where none of its characters are a pain in the nails to find. In the U.S., at least.
