post any random Mario thought on your mind

Am I the only one who actually liked the 25th anniversary Super Mario All Stars?

Super Mario Maker was a way better anniversary game though

I just read this, and found out the reason for too little 3D Mario games overall and the death of collectathon. The reason is, the percentage of scrub, or novice (to be less offensive) players to "decent" and professional players. This makes the sales of these games quite low compared to 2D games because they are "confusing" (yea, right.) I know, Nintendo is not at fault, first, they do what the majority of gamers want (and those majority are what I called scrubs, also the people who can't play any game ever without having a walkthrough right near their controller) And second, if 3D games are a lot harder, and more expensive to make and they sell worse than 2D games (compare 29.32 Million NSMBW - just another 2D sequal - , to the 12.5 Million SMG - with it's creative gravity ideas). It becomes clear that 2D games are the way to go. sigh.

But Super Mario Galaxy had huge critical acclaim. I believe it started a new direction of 3D Mario games, which is 3D linear planetoid hopping. This also transitioned into Super Mario 3D Land/World, who are made by the same developers. It's too bad we're not getting more coherent worlds like in 64 or Sunshine though.

I honestly think that one of the reasons NSMBW sold a lot better was the multiplayer aspect, which made it similar to a party game, which is considered casual friendly.

True to some degree. I would want to compare 3D World and NSMBU, but they are still kinda fresh games, and 3D World is not what I really consider a 3D game, it's super great nonetheless.

3D World even has "3D" in its name...unless the company are just being corporate sell-outs

Mega is obviously referring to how 3D Land/World are not in the traditional vein of "explorable" Mario collect-a-thons. Really, I feel 3D World/Land stays truer to what a 3D Mario should be like than 64-based stuff ever did.

I revealed my real age. Don't shoot.

The only reason I'll shoot is that you clearly didn't read the OP

i dont get when people say this

its a game
its three dimensional

therefore its a 3d game
3D World is a 3D game, but maybe Megadardery is referring to the more traditional 8-health system the first two 3D games had. The better wording would be "traditional 3D".

We also had an official soundtrack where half of the disc is composed of official 5-second sound effects.

This was the only good thing to come out from Super Mario Bros.'s 25th anniversary.

Run Koopa! he is going to eat you!

Yeah, it looks like he's eyeing the Koopa rather than the cake.

Mario: Time for Koopasta! Ha ha!

Not exactly what I meant, but part of it. I chose the wrong wording sure, but what I meant includes a controllable camera (even if not fully), and the main exploration aspect of the game. Maybe that's not what a Mario game should be, but who puts the basics may I ask?

Well, yeah, but Mario's never really about exploration. He's still fairly linear, although it's less linear than the games after Sunshine. But I think the most defining aspect was the 8-health system, so maybe that was symbolic?

One of the cpus just blue shell'd themself

I've always wondered why Yoshi couldn't enter Big Boo's Haunt or defeat the Boos for that matter. He can ground pound just like the Mario Bros. and Mr. DOHIMISSED! and the Yoshies in Sunshine could eat Boos, so what exactly is the problem here?

fences maybe? They seem unable to climb those.

It might be a callback to Super Mario World, when Mario left Yoshi outside to enter the Ghost Houses and castles.

Probably due to a lack of mustache or pants.

When Bowser barges into the Glitz Pit and fights Mario, you can lose, but it doesn't result in a game over, meaning its canon, though it doesn't affect the rest of the game other than Bowser's dialogue in the immediate following cutscene.

Game Overs are canon for Mario just how everything is canon in the official Mario universe.
