post any random Mario thought on your mind

Once upon a time there was a guy who liked going on boats.

Then his wife died so he stopped going on boats.

Then he got a letter from her that said to keep going on boats.

So he went back to going on boats.

The end.

Ah, those cheap things again. They amuse me.

I think that N64 Mario should make a comeback in the spinoffs.

Just going by these offical renders, there's enough of a distinct personality between the two. 64 Mario looks like he just burned your house down for the fun of it while Modern Mario looks like he's your standard nice guy.

They could easily present 64 Mario as a younger Mario (I mean we already got Baby Mario). Even if it's just Mario Kart Tour, I'd be pleased.

I feel the example art here is actually one of the friendlier-looking renders of N64 Mario. I always thought the N64 Mario had more of an attitude, maybe just due to how the silicon graphics presented themselves, but I can't help it.

I also do want to see this iteration of Mario make a comeback. It's evident it's popular, given the amount of attempts by fans to try to recreate the look. I hope it becomes used as a nostalgic throwback the same way Classic Sonic was revived for it.

But don't forget his friends either! Luigi, for instance, had definitely a more circular face and more chin space as well as those eyes that look way different from Mario's eyes for the highlights being in the middle of the black region.

There is also Princess Peach, who had a bit of variance in the art, where her Mario Kart 64 iteration looked a bit plasticky, but she did get a better face by Mario Tennis and Mario Party. Her hair had one mote smaller front flips (as well as smaller and pointier flips) and was more rounded at the tip, I notice. Her irises were also smaller.

Bowser at the time was also some weird combination of scary but his proportions and posing look pretty comical. But who can forget the orange skin? And the bloodshot eyes. His maw also seemed less.... meatier too

Ayyy it'll just be neat to see a modern throwback on the styles. It'll be a challenge to try to recapture the old feel but have the functionality of the new modeling techniques we have (this means probably no dislocated Bowser shoulders or dislocated thumbs, materials should probably also not be unrealistically shiny), but I can trust Nintendo to make an attempt and succeed.

Well point out first that Mario games have sold way more than Dark Souls games, so being accessible pays.

Mario games do definitely need more settings and options however. Ability to turn off music (which can be distracting) and keep on important sound effects for cues and whatnot would help. Also, I don't know how red/green issues translates to people identifying Mario and Luigi but I think their colors should be changed for a colorblind friendly mode; this means the Mario & Luigi games need to also get out of relying on red/green colors for important attack cues. Mario games should also have options to adjust text size for readibility. Also QTE events like in Mario & Luigi games should be reworked so people with reaction time problems can have other ways to get past these. Oh, and the button mashers should either be phased out or reworked so people with motor issues don't suffer from those (heck left-handed people already suffer; imagine having to mash the L button you guys or just imagine all the face buttons are on the left side of the controller and you have to mash these). Finally, the most obvious thing Mario games need is to REMAP THE CONTROLLERS and not like the dinky way Nintendo currently does it but actually have the usual flexibility the other games let you have when remapping buttons.

Since I'm incredibly annoyed by SoulsBorne elitists, what would you say are some ways to make Mario games more accessible for those with disabilities?

Time for me to stan for Forza again.

Anyway, Forza Horizon 4 has a crap ton of "easy" mode options whenever you race, which helps accessibility for people. While Mario Kart has auto steer, auto accelerate, and CPU difficulty, Forza Horizon 4 has the ability to not only adjust CPU difficulty on the fly, there are options to showcase the racing line in the track (where you need to speed up, slow down, and/or brake hard), having steer assist and brake assist on with varying degrees, having vehicle damage affect your driving or not, if stick shift is automatic or manual, and rewind for turns you screw up on similar to emulator rewind. These do affect your money earnings (more "difficult" settings earns you more money) and I really would love for more games, especially Mario, to have such a huge bevy of difficulty options such as these. That's just one example, but Mario could use a lot more than just Super Guide.

I don't HATE Pauline, but I wonder if I'd like her a lot more if she did evoke the "Mario's girlfriend", a person with a big nose and fluffy hair, and it'll even help contrast Peach better for being the "royal Princess from another land".

But that's just ruminating about another timeline. For the time being, I just like to see Pauline be in more mayoral/administrative roles. It's been really cool to see her advance from "objectified goal for a hero man" (which doesn't help that her dress was torn to make her more revealing; it gives me uncomfortable implications whenever I see it, though I'm glad it's more unacceptable today to depict this) to "mayor of a city" and we see her get playable roles of an athlete like everyone else. However, I'd like to see Nintendo make her more "mayorly" like she uses the power of paperwork and pens to her advantage! Or her singing! She can still be attractive and be a good dancer and look nice in a red dress and wear nice makeup, when she's dressed for the occasion, but we should see more of that side of her where she's in a suit at an office desk.

Anyway this dad's a great dad, as he modded a game for his daughter so she could play as Pauline to save Mario. Representation matters!

How peculiarly unique the franchise is and came to be,
What other series do you know that's a slapstick cartoon in a 1980's(?) themed fairy tale setting?

It's cool considering she's rarely playable in platformers that she's one of the Lego that does the adventuring, of course, I'd imagine that would make people want Daisy and Rosalina to get the same treatment

peach looks terrifying in lego form
I think Peach's all right. I mean her face hasn't been compromised THAT much, like her hair makes up for the blocky volume of her head so you can sort of abstract away the shape of her head. Unlike Mario and Luigi. I still think some characters look more cursed in Lego form like Ludwig
