Which Mario series makes the best soundtracks?

I honestly thought you were joking. I mean, you posted that Super Mario Land "music" one time and "hailed" it.

I genuinely like SML 2's invincibility theme, tho.

I know I'm bumping this thread but, really, you can't leave a best Mario soundtrack thread without leaving what, in my opinion, the series that is responsible for is THE best Mario soundtracks: the Mario & Sonic games.

There's plenty more but these are just my favorites. It's really a shame that these games are good in the artistic department but not the gameplay one otherwise people may sing more praises for these soundtracks.

I'm a bit pissed Smash 4 doesn't use ANY of those songs.

I'd say my favorites are the Paper Mario series, Strikers Charged, and some Mario Karts

Mario and Sonic as Baby Luigi stated if it counts too but that's because it also includes Sonic music amongst it not just for Mario. It'd feel slightly cheating. Though at least not quite as much as choosing Smash.

Meh I think it counts because 1. it's part Mario, 2. it's official Mario remasters and 3. it's too good to NOT include in "best Mario soundtracks" games list.

btw, hearing Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island soundtrack kinda makes me want to play that damn game again.

Most Mario music, and for that matter Nintendo music in general, is usually good, and it's one of my favorite things about the company. The 3D games, RPGs, and Mario Kart seem to be generally considered to have the best in the series, and I can't really argue.

I'm not even going to mention how good Donkey Kong and Wario (plus Yoshi sometimes) have it.

Most of the soundtracks are either well done with the new ones or just done well with the remixed ones.

theres a few ones here and there that seem a bit eh, but otherwise, pretty good overall.
