My fangame Paper Mario: Wicked Worlds has undergone significant progress this past week, with the completion of its prologue; and it is definitely planned to make more in the weeks following.
The story of the game is that a Darksider (a species of kind and hospitable shadow people) named Hexel had abandoned his own people in favor of constructing an army of called the Wicked. His plan is to strike the Darksiders' home world, the World of Chapters, and invade it and all of the other worlds it connects to -- which happens to include the Mushroom Kingdom.
The ruler of the Darksiders, Serlin, summoned Mario into the World of Chapters to stop the Wicked and their invasion, for he is impressed by Mario's past journeys. He sends Mario along with his daughter Silha, a serious anti-Lightsider, to travel to five different worlds and force Hexel's main officers to surrender. Once all six are out of the picture, Hexel's backup will be significantly weakened, allowing Mario to break into the Wicked Fortress and stop Hexel once and for all.
Meanwhile, little to Mario's knowledge, Luigi had also been transported out of the Mushroom Kingdom by Hexel. Hexel's initial attempt was to bring Mario before him to convert him into one of the Wicked; however, he accidentally the "lesser" brother, instead. Unimpressed by his abilities and overall disposition, Hexel sends Luigi to the Wicked Fortress' dungeon. Upon being thrown into the dungeon, Luigi meets Silho, Silha's brother, who was imprisoned in a failed attempt to stop Hexel himself weeks before. It isn't long until Silho and Luigi begin constructing a plan to escape and defeat Hexel themselves. The Silho and Luigi portions are going to act as the game's chapter intermissions, similar to the sections in the first two Paper Mario games where Peach is playable.
And now for some screenshots:
The last screenshot shows Mario entering the "Shadow Realm" with the help of Silha. This will be a major mechanic of the game, as well as the use of badges.
